My wheel arrived today. Only had a quick go for half an hour with it on my lap, but I`m down to consistent 1m27`s already. I knew the steering lag is a handicap for pad users, but hadn`t realised how different it would be. The sweeping tight left that is barely flat when on a pad, is now easily flat, with enough room to ease the car out of the apex.

Haven`t got time to beat my current lap, but on the next challenge this should be mint.

Well, I've taken a few laps in the same JGTC RX-7 as everyone else, and scored a pitiful 1'32.773, but I'm sure I can take a chunk further out of it, once I get used to the speed of this thing.

edit - OK, maybe I can't right now. The really annoying thing is that I'm taking a fair bit out of that time in the first and third sectors now, but for some reason I can't run the middle bit (from the top of the bumpy hill round to the second-gear left-hander) reliably any more.

Also really amusing for me is how, even as an utterly crap newbie who normally doesn't play anything with a handling model more complex than Burnout, is how even I'm losing a good 3 seconds out of my laptime by switching the steering aids and auto gears on to see if it can help with my rampant wheelspin and lazy downshifts.

Same here, though I love the game. Dunno what it is...probably should've avoided Prologue.
