Voice comms server

Apparently we get a free voicecomms server when we sign up for the bf2 server - so I have emailed multiplay for the details.

It means that all of our team can chat without being in a squad (though squading up is still the ideal tactic), and we can set it so that the voicecomms is voice activated exactly like xbox live

its using the Ventrillo software system

do we need to dl any software or is it contained in the server when we connect?

Voice comms server is now active - you will need to download the ventrillo client from here then make an account with your in-game name

I will pm the details to any clan members who wish to use the voice comms (its a max of 16 players - same as the ranked server. I can't figure out how to have it so we can let both teams of 8 use the voice comms but i will enquire as to how to sort this later today)

voice comms now have US and Enemy team channels - 8 people per channel. I will change this for clan matches so we only have 1 channel (so no-one can log onto our server and listen to us discuss tactics)

we need to decide whether it should be key-locked similar to the BF2 voip, or whether it should be voice activated ... personally i think key-binding it is a batter option since it lets us also use the bf2 system for inter-squad chat

set my keybind to Mouse 3 - setting it to an alpha key made that key stop working for anything else

i don't think Mouse 3 is used ingame so its all good

V worked ok for me, not sure why it locked up your machine. Was quite effective though, especially being able to warn people after you die.

It got pretty annoying towards the end when someone kept joining the chat channel over and over, because it does that 'text to voice' thing every time.
