City Of Heroes - War Of The Forums

So, here's the thing - NCSoft are pushing the new additions to City Of Heroes by giving me 100 trial licenses for the game to literally just give away to you lot. Free. Gratis. The idea is that I give away 100 trial versions here, my friend who PRs for NCSoft (the man behind the plan) gives 100 trial versions away over on rllmuk and then over a two-week period (dates to be confirmed), there will be loads of events for people to take part in. What's more, when the two weeks are up, we have a proper 'war' between the supergroups, with prizes on offer and everything.

He's sorting it out so that there are two prize categories - one for costume design and the other for the actual PvP battle that'll take place. The winner of the costume contest will have the pleasure of seeing their entire 100-strong team dressed in their outfits for the PvP battle, which will pit our heroes against those from rllmuk... so bragging rights are up for grabs as well as prizes too.

Basically, anyone that wants in can have a license - you'll have to play at the designated times in order to be part of the events, obviously, but that shouldn't be too hard to organise if you want to be in it. All you have to do is PM me your name and email address, and then I'll collate them and pass them onto NCSoft; once the list is made, everyone on it will get an email giving them a license password and a link to the downloadable client. Easy as that.

You want in? PM me your name and email address now. NOW. Really.

I'd love to get involved with this, as City Of Heroes looks like one of those games that pushes my buttons (I mean, make your own superheroes with their own superpowers and outfits, and beat the crap out of supervillains, how much better can it get?), but with a full time job, a part-time degree and a wife and young daughter, where's the time?

How long will these events last and what time are they?

Do you have to download the game when you get a license or how does it work?

I know what you mean about time, gunrock - a lot of us are in the same boat.

If I knew, I'd tell you... but it hasn't all been finalised yet. I'm getting the names together now, so it's up to NCSoft to sort the rest out.

As for the game, you'll receive an email from NCSoft once it's all finalised containing a keycode (used to unlock the license) and a download link that you have to visit to get the game client. It won't be too big, I don't think, but I would recommend having broadband - heck, it's an MMORPG, so it's kind of a must these days.

We're up to 17 people now... I've got 100 licenses but if we can get it over 30, I reckon we'll have a good team.

Do we have to play at these times only or can we play in our own time?

It's a two-week license, so I'm guessing you can play as much or as little as you want - it's only the events that'll be at set times and hopefully, because me and someone else are organising it, we'll be able to have those at 'sensible' times (when we're not working). Besides, you'll have to play loads in order to level up and get a decent character... otherwise, you'll just get slaughtered when the PvP bit starts.

                  No true!

There are weight classes for the PvP arenas, meaning you won't fight anyone *too* far from your own level.

It's more about the fun than the winning, though*.

                  *it's blatantly about the winning.

Sorry for the lack of updates... I haven't had any new info. In any case, we're up to 21 with v0id, nerps and EvilBoris adding themselves to the mix. I'll start digging for start dates and bring you an update shortly.

Oh, and once the two weeks are up, you can continue playing with the same characters is you like... but obviously, you'll have to cough up for it.

Has this started yet, I'm just on a trial of WoW and would love to give this a go soon.
Can I get a lend of my friends CoH cds and just use the code you give me?
Do you have to attend all the planned events?
