    BF2 1.2 released

    Link

Lets see how this one goes...

They STILL haven't fixed the fact you can lose all of the servers. Gah.

Also it says it is installing 1.1, even though it installs 1.2...nice.

      'Patching Failed'
This patch replaces all previous updates

Is it just me or did anyone else get that message? I might have to first patch to 1.1 and then to 1.2. These people could **** up a cup of coffee.
Anyone know where I can download 1.1?

Edit: well, found and installed 1.1 and still no luck.

BF 1 didn't have this problem as far as i was aware. Roll on half life 2 style patching

I hate to moan but BF2 is the first PC game I've played in a few years and it's a been a ****ing shambles so far. I've had no end of problems connecting and getting booted off games for no reason. EA even acknowledged the 1.01 patch caused a memory leak but still hosted it!

I hope this fixes things up as I'm really losing patience. Once you get in a game it's usually great, but jeesh, it's a trial to get that far.

ok, I figured it out after reading a couple of forums. If anyone else is getting the 'patch failed' or 'cannot find directory' messages, try this (it's a bit long-winded).

Run the patch file and choose your language and wait for the welcome screen (but don't progress any further).

            Go to: C:\Documents and Settings\YOURLOGIN\Local Settings\Temp

Run a search for 'patch.exe' in that folder

Open the folder that contains the unpacked patch files.

Move those files into your BF2 directory, maybe enlarge the window so you can keep them seperate from the other files.

You can now cancel out of the patch install prog.

Run the patch.exe file, it should open a command window and start patching.

After patching, delete the files you moved into that directory.

That worked for me. There is another way where you don't need to move the patch files and instead run the patch.exe "Path to BF2 dir\" from the command promt but that didn't work for me.

What a total ****ing shambles this is though, it's right up there with Tribes 2 although I think this beats that in terms of sheer incompetence.

In follow up to Edame's post, here's a repackaged version of the patch that you might want to try, simply run the included batch file and you're good to go.
