Tips for a beginner?

I've started playing this today and, wow. The sense of atmosphere is simply amazing and the graphics are stunning.

But...

I really feel out of my depth! Lots of people running round who seem to know what they're doing and I'm struggling to even recognise which troops are the enemy!

Just seems to be so much to get your head round and the manual that came with it is a bit on the slim side.

Anyone got any tips for starting out?

Also, is it worth getting a mic and using voice comms rather than the menu system?

OK, I'm now totally addicted to this.

Will check out your server tomorrow, its all still a bit bewildering, but I'm getting there!

First and foremost, always join a squad as you can then spawn with yr squad leader and ask for or follow their commands. Gives you a sense of purpose with a small group of players.

If yr not in a squad and ppl aren't playing in squads it can turn into a chaotic mess.

I use a mic with my m8s but go via TeamSPeak not the ingame comms. It certainly does help but if yr in a squad you can see all yr m8s anyway and so gauge whats happening. Give it a whirl...

My trouble is i'm just to damn slow aiming. i get butchered within seconds I changed my tactics though, and learnt how to fly choppers. I've never looked back!

I tend to just go off on my own and capture the unattended flags. If you keep behind some cover and don't expose yourself until you see an easy kill then you can get by pretty well without fantastic aim or vehicle skills.
