I'd say there's probably more honour in playing Hanna Montana than there is in cheating to get achievements on Fallout 3 PC. Seriously though, what is the point? An extra 1550 points that you didn't earn? Wahoo!

So are you also saying that games that have "Cheat Codes" menus, where you can put in cheats, aren't actually cheats either because they're part of the game?

The achievements were not ACHIEVED. Simple as that. As you know, most achievements have a description associated with them that state the requirements in order to unlock that achievement. So unless the Fallout 3 (PC) versions say "Either play the game, or just type a code into the console" then I'd very much class them as being gained by cheating.

I should point out that it obviously has no baring on my life what so ever. I just find it rather odd that people would inflate their gamerscore with points that they gained illegitimately. Heck even Avatar required you to play the game (kinda) in order to get the points.

Even if the "addachievement" command was not possible in the PC version, the kind of person who would use it is the kind of person who would use the console anyway to keep their health/ammo/etc all topped up every step of the way through the quest, so the way I see it, if they can get it out of their system in one fell swoop, they might as well.

I see that the Roster Of Champions table has already decided that it's not worth listing.

Boosting's as equally nonsensical. However, at least with that you have to do what the goals for the achievement are. Rather than circumventing them.

I do not see the point in getting gamescore you haven't earned. You're only fooling yourself.

Yes, traditional cheats in a game are not actual cheats.

Games are a set of rules exposed to the player by the designer. The designer has exposed an infinite ammo rule which the player has chosen to use. Hacking a game is cheating, using something the designer provides is not.
