Soon to be #5 I imagine

Just curious Mayhem but what parts are in Frost Lynx-G4? I'd like to take it for a test drive.

The custom craft I have a t the moment is pretty damn good, very twitchy but can turn any corner with L or R. It's more of a battle keeping the thing on the track, damn fun though.

FLG4 (what I call it heh) is a bit twitchy too, but stable at most speeds, has a good turning arc and a very high unboosted top speed. I've pulled most of my time trial records down quite a notch since using it (apart from the ones like Vegas Palace I and Cosmo Terminal that rely on sheer unadulterated arse on fire speed).

According to the FAQ, the parts you need are:

Body: Aqua Goose (available from start)
Cockpit: Super Lynx (Sapphire Cup Novice)
Booster: Titan G4 (Emerald Cup Novice)

So it's quite easy to get all the parts for it too

Thanks Mayhem. Had a few quick laps with it and it's very fast. Never thought about giving a custom car a B boost before.

Very stable as well, at least compared to my contraption. If you want some twitchy, hard to keep it on the track fun, then I'll get the parts for you. I think it'll stay as my preferred car for the time being.

              Might join up myself.
Just been checking out the site again. Decided against joining up. If the webmaster decides to start a leaderboard for non-snaking times then i will register.

I can't really see the point in trying to compete against snaking times - and i have no real urge to learn the courses again using this technique. I'm not against snaking 100%, but lets not forget that F-Zero GX IS a racing game and not some novelty slalom game.

Guess I'll keep flying the non-snake flag there for a while then

Least there's chance where you can't slalom. Like Cosmo Terminal... I was just mucking about with the settings this afternoon and somehow knocked TWO SECONDS off my time! Like... I'm already going faster than a bat out of hell that's eaten two vindaloos and yet I still managed to swipe such a large margin off. I still can't figure out how

I'll post the time once I've written it down...

Btw Benji if you're still reading this thread, care to show me how to get such a time on Big Blue Ordeal with Twin Noritta? I gave it a go, max speed, no crashes or major bashes and couldn't do much under 3 minutes with it. How on earth have you gotten 16 seconds better?

Definitely takes the challenge and fun out of it. I'll be a no-snaking man until I finally stop playing, won't be for quite a while yet.

Finally beat the staff on Emerald Casino. Not a perfect run so I'll go back and try to improve it a bit.

Totally agree Earl. It takes ALL the fun out of the game.

I'm gonna have to give the Sonic Spider-Z a go I think...

As for Phantom Road, bloody hell, how have you done that time?!

I've tried and can get about 2 minutes without anything major going wrong, so you're a good 6 seconds ahead of me here...

Non-stop boosting and not hitting the sides too much. Seriously though, thats about it, the time i set included 3 wall scrapes, so i reckon i can go 2-3 seconds faster.

Also, and more importantly, did you know you can take air off the hill after the start line. You need to continously boost all the way up the hill. If you've got enough speed you will take to the air and cut out the entire dip.

Oh yeah I've been getting the air... I noticed the ghost doing it on lap 3 the first time I challenged it, so I copied it along. Fine line between doing it and just floating about like a floaty thing though

                              What i do is this:

Before i get in the air i make sure i'm lined up with the track. No good shooting off to the left or right, the adjustment to get you back on line just slows you down.

Once i'm in the air i start to dive down towards the track. Think Stuka dive bombing.

Then just as i'm about to touchdown i level out and press boost again on contact. Make sure you are 100% ready for the next turn - you will be travelling REALLY fast.

Whatever you do don't overdo the jump. Too much and you'll be landing on the up slope belly flop style and you'll lose all your speed.

Its also possible to jump and land on the track above. I was hoping it was going to be a 30 second shortcut, alas not, just puts you further back on the track.

i found a glitch with the track "Serial Gaps" - basically on any lap where you have boosts - start off, go over the boost thru the corner, hold your nose down when going in the tunel to speed yourself up, kamakazi thru all the explosives, this'll make your craft wobble alot, keep on boosting and do a powerslide to the right, then boost and you'll get air, hold your nose up, if your extremely lucky - not only will you go over the barrier but you'll travel a fair distance and land on the track on the other side, which is towards the end of the map.. 20 second lap i think it was, that was with correction after i landed, bashed into barrier then had to turn to face the right way.

been trying to replicate it but to no avail, saved the replay mind.. even backed it up on another memory card :P
