Help with trying to get my PS3 online

Hey, I've wired up my PS3 with ethernet cable in the same way I have done with my PC and 360 (at Uni, only have one ethernet socket :P). For some reason when I try to connect the PS3, it keeps timing out when trying to obtain an IP. Any ideas? As I said, I've done the exact same thing with my 360 and that worked straight away.

Edit: seems to be working fine now. No idea what caused that.. oh well.

Ive had it with mine the ethernet port seems to be very subcepatble sometimes especially after a firmware update and I just have to unplug it and then retry and it resets it.
