Thanks Orgun, I have one of those at home but find it extremely uncomfortable on my ear after a couple of hours. Also isn't very comfortable under a pair of Sennheisers

I am tempted by this set - getting a new TV for the lounge which means my 32" Tosh will be going into the games room with a DVD player, a wireless set of cans will be better and probably cheaper for gaming than a full amp/speaker setup. mmmmm

If I had the 360 plugged into the TV using component audio and video, would I be able to play with the sound through the TV without changing cables around ? I know it wouldn't be 5.1 which the headphones would, but when people are round it may be a better option. Not sure how the DVD player will work for that mind.

Orgun, how much customs were you charged? Don't want these burning a hole right through the pockets of whoever ends up buys me them for my birthday in january lol.

£200 sounds more than reasonable for a set of surround sound headphones which cover all bases.

@Daragon - Yup I have the bill next to me (they tried to charge my work because thats where I had it delivered hehe). DHL charged me £49.02 BUT it will probably be more now that the exchange rate has dropped, when I ordered mine we were nearly getting $2 for £1.

@Chunky - Afraid I have no idea mate, my 360 is plugged into my TV via component audio/video and then I have my A40 plugged into my 360 via optical audio.
If your looking for wireless you could try finding "Turtle Beach Ear Force X2" or these. I've not tried either so dont know what the quality is like.

I didnt bond with the wireless h/set. The volume was poor and my mate salways mentioned it soudned like I was miles away and very quiet. Plus the battery was terrible, 3/4 hours at the most.

Ive been looking at headsets for a while now, defo tempted with astro h/sets tho. Say about £200 all in including tax?.

Bit more than that im afraid, if you add the rechargeable battery pack (you should) it will come to £224.352 including delivery but not including customs charges. You'd have to buy an optical audio cable of crouse, the price they charge to include one is ludicrous .

              That's what I meant, what did I say ?

So you have the TV and the headphones plugged in at the same time, can you hear audio through both at the same time too ? Would be perfect.

The Astro isn't wireless then, hmm I might have to look at the Turtle Beach set instead. I'm not a huge audiophile, is the sound quality hugely different between wired and wireless these days ?

Really? Heh woops, I am kinda read/posting on the sly...my boss sits next to me

Yeah sound comes through both, I just turn my TV right down.
Nope its not wireless, i've only ever had cheap wireless headsets and these expensive wired headsets so I can't really compare the quality

Hmm, I might be better off with the TurtleBeach X4s in that case, £130 on gameplay's website - unfortunately I've been reading mixed reviews about their quality. One site gives them a perfect rating yet IGN.com are less kind

Wireless will tip the scales for me, but I understand they use am infra-red line of sight connection and cut out if the line of sight is broken. Also, the chat functionality won't carry over to the PC as far as I can tell, and I'd ideally I'd like an all-in-one for pc gaming.

Yep wireless would make a huge difference for me too, better than having a cable stretched halfway across the room. The X4's may well be the way forward then although the infra-red connection sounds a bit primitive, surely technology has advanced past issues like that ?

Going to have a look on avforums and see if there's anything about them on there.

The X4s aren't completely wireless if you use them with XBox Live are they? This diagram seems to indicate the headset gets the voice through the controller, rather than directly from the 360 like the wireless headset.

They aren't no, but as with the cable from the standard live headset, it's hardly intrusive.

I find the standard wired XBox headset pretty intrusive. It's a pain in the arse frankly.
I don't remember having a problem with the old Xbox though. Maybe I was used to wires back then.

Thanks for the very helpful replies chaps. Trouble is, now I'm thinking of getting something much more expensive! >.<

                              5.1 H/phones all in one
