@Pilotwings, do you feel comfortable with the 360 pad? Some people can become comfortable using such gubbins.

Personally, I couldn't do much in the way of fireballs with it without doing something else by accident. The PS3 pad is better, but eventually gave me sores. I now use the Fightpad or Saturn pad. Dpads on these are excellent plus the six buttons are on the face which is essential for me.

To be fair, I spend ?140 on steel battalion, but that was bigger & came with a game. I'm getting more tempted by the day though...if I saw one for ?100 i'd bite I reckon...

I didnt realise it was a monkey lol. I thought the ears were eyes and the face bit was a mouth showing top teeth and hanging tongue - somekind of mini beast.

No I couldn't use it, my game has sat on the shelf. But now I have my stick so will be playing soon. Doubt I will win any tournaments though!

I've been thinking about actual team battles. Teams made up of 3 forumites, each with their own character of choice. 3 matches played (something will be done about counter picking) i.e firstly all characters to be chosen by each player before they've been assigned to a team. Teams randomly put together, as will the order of character appearance.

For example: Team A (Psyduck, Hulk Davidson, billy_dimashq) Vs Team B (Seany, hoolak, Skull Commander).

Seany beats Psyduck. Hulk Davidson beats hoolak, and billy_dimashq beats SKull Commander. Team A wins match 2 - 1. Even those who lost their match will get another stab as their team won.

This is just an idea, maybe a crap one, but could combat those who want to stick to one character?

If not, I'll go ahead and do what we originally discussed.

I'm confused though, why would we want to combat people who stick to one character? Was there a problem with doing that in this tourney?

There's the idea of having one player versus another best of 3 match using 3 different characters in each match, but there seems to be a good few only wanting to play a tourney using one character (like the last tourney) as they may not know other characters too well. Hope that made some sense lol.

Yeah I'd prefer to just repeat the style of the previous tournament (with the little tweak I mentioned earlier i the thread). It took long enough to get this one completed that offering further complications is not what is needed right now.

Perhaps if the next tournament goes quicker then we can think about adding other requirements to entry.

This isn't a criticism of yourself hoolak. The organisation was stellar. It was just the people who didn't show up and delayed the whole thing by weeks that we need weeding out.

I think it was pretty evident from our matches last night why I wouldn't want to use any other character

Actually, my ideal tournament would have everybody else playing as Cammy, as she's apparently the only character I know how to fight.

I don't think the format is going to make much difference to how quickly the tourney plays out. For those that actually arrange their matches on time it won't matter if they have one bout or three, heck most of us had practise matches in the tourney anyway.

My preference is for single character, but that's only because I've focused solely on Cammy so far. But for the sake of playing some games against forumites I'll take a stab at using a couple others.

Was thinking of getting all entrants in a hat, the first 3 names would be Team A, next 3 Team B and so on. You'd be able to name your teams to something better, of course

I think it would be more fun with randomly drawn teams. Would avoid the uber team of Psyduck, Seany and [3rd uber player here] I really don't mind, but it would be more interesting to mix them up.

To cut down the chances of the tourney taking an age to be completed, I think we're going to have to be harsh and not include anyone who was a no show or was very inactive in the thread of the last tourney.

I like the team idea, and random team selection is probably the best way to go, but I can't help feeling like I want to be part of a 'Team Gief'

Nothing stopping us from doing more tournaments later or at same time where team battle teams can be put together by just picking who you want to be with. Me, you and phillai/JamesS/Number45 etc would be Team Gief Grief
