    XBL compatable routers?

Looking to set up a home network with 3 PCs and 1 xbox and have been looking for a cheap router that's XBL compatable, did a quick forum seach but couldnt find anything relevant.

All PC's are winXP and connected via ntl 1MB set top box btw if that helps, and all PCs have a network card build it.

Found this one http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=48411 for ?25.
The xbox site http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/live/start...aq/routers.htm doesnt list this one but im hoping it would work, does anyone know for sure? or a cheap one that does work?#

    Any help appreciated

he had to download the latest firmware from here first, then he says it works a breeze

look for UPnP support in NAT routers with Xbox Live... otherwise you'd need to forward ports automatically to make it "go".

          I use a netgear.

Just pluged it in, and pressed auto set up, and that was that. Great little router. A lot better than the Belkin I had before.

After reading this topic yesterday, I decided it was time to buy a router, called into Comet (not the best place I know but it's local) and found the suggested Belkin one, with a old pricing tag underneath saying buy Xbox Live for ?40 and get this for a tenner (instead of ?45). So as I needed Live subscription anyway I got both for ?50, bargain eh.

Had to argue with the girl on the till and Store Manager though as apparantly the offer ended November 2003, but they hadn't removed the pricing tag so tough

Couldn't be bothered to connect it up last night, will try at the weekend and let you know how easy it was

i often have this trouble with dns in settings on xbox dash u cans et to auto or manual configuration, mine wont work with auto i have to set to manual, and in the dsash fill out all the figures 1 by 1

goto windows xp and goto start run, type cmd, then in dos prompt type ipconfig /all, there should be loads of figures

                  ip addy
                  default gateway

and then there will be some dns figures

                  these r what u need

                  hope this helps

oooops re read your thread and this may not be what u r after

easier way of getting settings/IP address etc off PC is

Settings / Network connections / right click on connection, select status / then look in properties and you'll find all details listed.

Hey, NTHell tought me something useful
