James, from the sound of it you want to melee and use magic. I think the perfect job for you was released with the recent expansion.

Blue Mage.

Has excellent skills in using Swords (ranked A- so very high indeed) and also have access to a large number of spells, some of which are enhancing/healing others of which are attacking. I?m not sure if you are aware of Blue Mage from previous FF games but they basically learn enemy attacks and then use them.

You won?t be able to select this job from the start (you have to unlock it via a quest at level 30) but it sounds like it could be right for you. It is an incredibly powerful job though (that requires a good deal of dedication from the player as learning all the different magic can be time consuming). In fact, it is so powerful, some players are already anticipating it will be toned down slightly in coming updates.

Hi guys, Well i'm selling my entire DC and Saturn collection in order to put some serious time into this, plus i'm off work for the next 7 days and have nothing planned, i'm really up for putting some serious time into this.

I've bought the expansion pack (its in the post at the mo)

So would you guys recommend being a Red Mage from tonight, then obviously within time have an outlook for Blue Mage?

RDM is a fun job and for much of the early levels you can mix melee with your magic nicely so it sound like this is a. what you want to do and b. similar in style to BLU if you decide to pursue that later on.

Having had a shocking RDM in my Lv31 party on Friday please remember that Magic duties come first and melee second so dependant on the party structure and your role, you may melee anywhere between quite a bit and none at all.

Feel free to speak to me about RDM stuff if you need any assistance.

My name will come up in the search results if I am online. If I am online simply use the

/tell

comand followed by a message to talk directly to me.

Alternatively post your character name up on here after you are on Seraph and I can find you We will need to get a linkpearl to you (which can only be traded directly to you) which means a Pearlsack holder holder will need to hunt you out but that shouldn't be a problem

Right, little nightmare but hopefully everything will be sorted,
I deleted the character I had, Made a new one, Put in the server and world pass C' gave me and it said a Gold World Pass can only be used on the First character (or something along that lines)

Anyway i'd already deleted my character so spoke to playonline on the phone and within 2 minutes they said they'd sort it and to try again in 10 mins or so

Quick question though, When I look at my Content ID's, One shows up with a green symbol by the side, and the expansion packs show with red symbols, that right?

I'm guessing a red symbol isn't something positive. Did you remember to register them prior to starting the game?

As for the gold world pass thing, I'm sure Rare bought it with the intention of providing the code soley to you so there shouldn't be a problem there.

Basically I bought FFXI day of release, installed it, never played it so cancelled my content id....Re-installing the other day was a doddle, and it's showing them as being in my Active Content thing...just wanna make sure

I have heard something about codes becoming invalid a number of months following the original install and registration if the game was canceled and uninstalled. If there's a problem with the expansions, the easiest way to find out is to load the game up and if the names of the main game and all 3 expansions appear with them on the title screen, they're registered. Otherwise you've got a problem.

I might be looking in the wrong place here, but from the Viewer main page, I went to "Serives & Support" -> "Membership" -> "Content ID" -> "Review".

Is this right? If so, I'll carry on explaining...
