Final Fantasy XI Then...

Hey fellas - hows it going? Browsed some of my old screenshots yesterday which has put FFXI on my mind. Has anyone had any success with importing 360 games from Japan? I've been toying with getting the Japanese copy of FFXI for my PC for ages, and also toying with getting a 360 - if I could do both in one go that'd be rather neat.

Would log on and say hi but unfortunately work has sent me to deepest darkest Bavaria, near the border with Czechoslovakia and the former East Germany, and it was only feasible to bring one laptop (the work laptop). A more lightweight FFXI laptop is clearly required!

xp for me too last night, would have been more fruitful if I'd remembered to go back to Maat after beating him so he could remove my limit.. I must have wasted a good 1000 points before I realised why I wasn't levelling up. Luckily the warp taru dropped me right in Ru'Lude so not too much downtime incurred.

Got 71, then joined a pick-up for Lebros cavern assault, started off with a party of 5 but the guy wanted to do repeat runs so I encouraged him to take less people, second time we took 4 and got 1000 points. I can live with that, it's better than not doing it at all. With 5 we finished what seemed like 10 minutes ahead of time, and with 4 we had 5 minutes spare. 15,000 points to go for the boots, and I'm only 1 level away from being able to wear them ; ;

I did also rank up though, so now I can do the level 2 assaults if anyone's interested.

Must have been the night of ****ty EXP Tal. Got an invite last night in a PT that really didn?t seem massively suited to fast paced melee parties that I?ve experienced at end game. WAR, WAR, MNK, NIN (so far so good), RDM, RDM (oh!?). Willing to give it a try and we head out to Bhaflau Thickets.

So we buff and stand there waiting for the pull and normally it?s been the BRD or at a push the RDM but no one?s moving. One of the RDM has a brainwave and says ?pull plz?. Genius! Eventually the leader asks one of the WAR to pull and we start. However having one of the melee pull is slowing us down as we are waiting for the kill before finding next mob instead of support having the next one slept to fight immediately.

In amongst this my router seems to be struggling in the heat and I get massive periods of R:0 leading to 3 disconnects in 10 minutes. On the third I decide to take it as a sign and give up for the evening.

OMGz! That's all I can say after last night...

Finally got lvl.4 Windy fame and activated the Teleport-Mea quest... but that wasn't the best bit...

Took some cabbages to Selbina to raise my Bastok fame a bit and was confronted by a Ghoul on the way back and figured, "Oh yeah, I need my skull again for Aht Urghan..."

Took down the Ghoul and got a Magicked Skull

Then I saw a Bogy nr. the boat and figured, , "Oh yeah, I need a Bloody Robe too..."

Took down the Bogy and got a Bloody Robe

Proper chuffed I started to head back to Bastok to do more quests. I ask Darwock what I needed for the Quadav's Curse quest and he said it was pretty obvious... So naturally I attack the first Quadav I come across and get a Quadav Backplate... LOL. As well as 3/3 grain seed drops from random sapplings.

). Not because I'm particularly lazy or unhelpful (well maybe just a little ) but because I try to get people to have some challenge and actual game in there FFXI life. It's little fun to have someone hold your hand through everything.

Exactly mate, which is what I've repeatedly stated everytime a challenge occurs.

Why else would I fly into the dragon with just me, Dar and an AFK Tobal?

Going for rank 4 shortly on my jack, with of course the help I'm hoping to find when I eventually get to the top of the tower. None of it planned of course. I should really make that priority as Foe is waiting for me.

I may need a little help with the NM for the finale to rank5. I remember that being quite the bitch. Foe is 45RDM and I'll be 40 (maybe even mid forties myself) BLM by then anyway hopefully so we might be OK.

I have a cheap desk fan running behind my modem + 360.

I was really lucky one day and picked up a sexy chrome WH.Smith one for half price.

That marble took me hours and hours and hours. Quite possibly the second most annoying thing that i've ever experienced in game (after the countless hours and going 0/10 on Dune Widow).

Yeah.. Rare's gonna chip in any second saying he got his first kill (/fume) but my advice for the marble is don't set out hoping to get it... buy the scroll, then kill lizards whenever you happen to be in the area and one day it will drop and you can get your money back.

I was killing lizards for weeks... months even (not in one session of course) before I finally got it.

Got my Elshimo Marble in 1 kill To make the story even better I didn?t know for sure it dropped off the Ivory Lizards. Just that the quest giver said he wanted Elshimo Marble which can be found in the jungles and I made a (tenuous?) link between marble and ivory.

I finally made myself 99 beastmen seals last night (leveling >10 jobs almost feels like cheating when it comes to seals) so if anyone has room for another black mage or mebbe a thief in a BCNM, let me know ^_^

I owe you & wedge 200K from buying Bevan's 2nd torque. I'm sure you won't let me forget. I've got one month and about 3 days left now.

Unfortunately I only have 17 seals, but I'd be quite happy to help out on a repeat run.. reason is that the rank 9 missions require accessing a part of the temple of uggalepih that can only be reached either with a key, or by leaving the sacrificial chamber through the back door. So even if I come along and replace Daragon for 1 of the 6 runs, that would work.

Of course I'd have to reach rank 9 first, which means dealing with those NMs I mentioned yesterday. On that subject I spoke to Kuponut and he's keen to come along and grab the item too, so that's the 'two Windurstians' slot filled, and gives us BLM/RDM/WHM. Need a tank and/or puller.

More than likely a rumor at this point, but given the success of this title, and the fact that MMORPG sequels already exist, I'd say its a good possibility further down the line.

It's inevitable, S-E are in the business to make money and they make money by milking the FF franchise, FFXI has to be superceded eventually. Wonder how they could do it different enough to be worthwhile though, surely they've exhausted all their ideas in terms of the FF jobs etc.

S-E have already published a Press Release related to the story saying that whilst they are developing a new online title for the 3 platforms, it will not be a sequel to FFXI and that future expansion packs for us will be in the works.

In other details, The-Event-Formerly-Known-As-Summerfest is due again starting next week and running until 21st August. Kind of gutted really as the last 2 years I?ve had a period of annual leave in time with the event and it was a nice event to go with my time off work. This year however I?m not off until 21st August Perhaps a fitting end (pause?) for Darwock though

Wish I knew where to find this Azima lass. Got a quest the other day where I was asked to find a an Alchemy expert and the NPC kept referring to a ?her?. Went to the Alchemist?s Guild in Bastok but couldn?t find anyone who furthered the quest. This Azima sounds like a perfect match.
