My synthing hopes have been shattered.

To get to lvl 20 smithing and lvl 30 goldsmithing is going to cost around 2million gil, unless I spend 6 months mining bits of stuff and running back and forth for synthesis support.

....All so that I can spend 50k on ingredients to make a 30k stack of thief's tools.

That part of the game is fisted. How any one is supposed to become interested in synthing without millions of gil to throw away I don't know.

Back to grain seeds and gaussbit grass. yay. It'll only take me another 3 weeks for those earrings and spells I want.

Quick question who is on Windurst missions and do they want to progress in them. I'll be picking up Windurst again tomorrow from 6-1 and taking it to rank 10 as fast a s possible. The other big one still outstanding is Savage Blade I really need to get that sorted is anyone around early tomoz (18:00 or so) to get that out the way. Be good to clear it before I get staff to the level where I start retribution.

Over the next few weeks going to be looking at more weapon skill ups (staff 205 -> 270 ish), Great Sword (135 -> 270 ish), Parrying skill ups and capping healing. Oh and NPC to 65 so if you want in on any of this 'fun' then let me know ^^

I get the impression synthing was not a flawed system when the game was relatively seller free.

I've made up my mind and I'm going to start THF. If I get to lvl.40 THF and end up in the same predicament I'm going to be mightily pissed off.

That'll be the fifth job taken to lvl.40 this year.

Dave, if u lvl i expect at some point u will come accross the same thing again. I was at lvl 60 for an age with drk cause of money woes. You get Whm AF soon, isnt it worth stickin it out till then and then at least u have some gear to sell to pay for the earrings ur after?

After you clear Promie DEM, could u not sell it then? Next CoP Cap is 40.

I only have gear for 50,60 and Uncapped. After i clear the 50 cap section in CoP im gonna sell that gear then as well although it be nice to have gear for every cap its just not affordable for me and i only ever seem to do 60 cap or uncapped stuff as that seems to be the most popular.

Whats the grief Dave, if its gil you will hit it again till you find a way to generate gil that works for you. THF you'll be hit hard as most people will expect a NIN sub from 20 - 24 onwards and that really really not cheap to level, high points for THF cost I can think of are:

Ammo for marksmanship about 3 - 4 stacks per level
Ammo for archery about 3 - 4 stacks per level
Food meat mithkababobs early on with squid sushi at about 40 onwards (I used earlier as well to help cap ranged)
Scoprion Harness at 57
NIN sub to 37, not sure on costs I dumped around 4 million into it
WAR sub to 37, fairly cheap no major gear
Shehei lots of it
Really though do not move jobs due to gil, the issue won't go away you'll just hit it again.

Nah, I said I'd help Bevan with Mea as well so I'll need to wait until then.

There is also no other gear worth owning for BLM up to lvl40. Infact, I was saying last night how there isn't anything remotely appealing up until lvl.56...



As far as BLM AF goes I'm only really interested in...




(and I can't even wear that with the above cloak. meh)

However, I obviously wouldn't grumble at wading around in 2x full sets of AF, as that would mean that I finally made lvl60 both jobs which is looking pretty bleak right now unless I want to cane farming stuff until it literally goes out of fashion for 70hours a week.

Also, by that level I'll be able to take part in Aht Urghan stuff and BCNM60s meaning I can buy back my Seers anyway. :/

I made a lot of gil when I was at lvl10 both jobs, I spent two weeks farming grain (about 6 days of game time) and made around 500k as I was going to give each of my friends a seperate synthing role as well as a gil boost before they quit, and ultimately before I found out synthing is a complete waste of gil (I'm actually on the phone to one right now and I'm begging him to come back for some low-lvl DD). More farming stints came in at lvls20, 30 and 40. I'm SICK the BACK TEETH of farming grain and gaussbit - I literally can't stomach it anymore, I think I've done quite well to say I've farmed myself up to 41/42 with semi-decent gear ignoring my earrings and the same rings I've had since lvl10.

I actually enjoy synthing stuff - it's just I find that RMT has ruined it beyond comprehension unless you've been levelling crafts since 2003 and are now lvl100 HQ+2 master. It was never like that on the beta server - I used to be able to keep PLD running solidly from 10/11 goldsmithing.

This is more like it.....


That must be a f'in cracker for PLD!





All the above cost a combined 250k which is well worth farming over two nights for. The idea of farming for 7days solid so I can get my hands on Erase and INT+2 can GrTF.

Do you have Clothcraft leveled? Taking the time to craft velvet cloth has paid for everything I've ever needed. Silk thread can be synthed from 2 crawler cocoons, which can be bought very cheap at the AH. The cotton thread needed can be desynthed from goblin armor (which is also very cheap). The lightning crystals needed can be farmed from lightning clusters in Qufim, which has frequent thunder weather.

Also, the BCNM20 Shooting Fish can be easily soloed with SMN & Ramuh. I can show you sometime.
