Hmmm, sounds like you're having some doubts over your mass farming plan.

Thing is, I think you're worrying unnecessarily about your performance in the MNK role. I've PT'd with you a couple of times now and checked out your gear and I am impressed with what you equip yourself with and how much damage you deal in battle. Now this tells me that you take pride in doing your job to the best degree possible.

However, in a game where there are people too lazy to farm small amounts of gil for even basic upgrades, no one is going to look down on you for being a MNK and not equipping Ochiudo's Kote. It would be madness to think that that is standard gear.

As long as you keep your equipment up to date with the most reasonably affordable gear available to you then you are playing to a high standard.

I would hate for you to feel compelled to farm that 1 million gil and end up burning out in the process and stop playing completely. ^^

EDIT - oh and if you ever want assistance camping for the Kote drop, I am more than willing to help any LS members in obtaining gear. Whilst the guys at AK recommend solo camping in the mid-40's, surely a couple of us working together with Mahlory healing, would be able to tackle him in the mid-30's? Whilst I too want the Kote I am willing to wait until a later point in the game (either when I'm making big bucks or high enough to solo the NM) but by helping you now I will learn valuable information as to where the NM spawns and what to expect when I decide to tackle him solo later on..

    Offer's there dude

My thought exactly. Thanks for the compliments

Camping the NM for the Kote will be though/tedious (I've heard it's usually camped quite badly with people turning up on time for him to spawn etc.) However if we do stick it out it can be a profitable enterprise (I belive tobal can wear the gloves too) so if the four of us sit it out for a couple days, couple hours each day we should be able to obtain the gloves, and if we get really lucky we can sell an extra pair off (and make a ton of gil in the process)
I've been told btw that you can hold out for them until the NM is soloable and not impede you progress.

Typical bad luck for me last night.

For the first time since I've been playing I got hooked up with a party of people who were giving me a lot of useful advice and generally making the game an even more enjoyable experience. I was hoping to spend a decent few hours making some progress when I got a phone call from mum telling me she had been attacked by a pitbull terrier!!!!! She is fine now but I could hardly say "Sorry about the fact that you've been minorly scarred Mum but can I call you back after I've made level 13?". I did the decent thing and had a long chat with her.

I hope those guys are back on tonight

            hi,

not to dampen your spirits here, but do you guys know how many japanese and NA players camps the kote NM? at any one time it is camped by at least 5-8 people. true, its not disimilar to any other NM, but this one is hard to spawn and you will be fighting other players who have camped this NM for days or even weeks and still unable to get it. a lvl 60 SAM friend of mine was at it for 3 weeks now and he never had one chance of fighting it...ever. its either the japanese have bots that camps for it or it just spawns for who knows how long. point is it would be very difficult to hunt this NM and castle oztroja is notorious for many high level campers including THFs looking for quick cash. i wish you luck though.

            cheers!

I think farming would be quick and less painless, making 150k in 2 weeks isn't hard, right now i wanted to i can farm for 2-3hrs for 20k. Luckily i can get conquest gear at lvl40 thats still gives me DEX+ and better def so a J-gi isn't a must for me (but it cost my 16k in conquest points to buy)

Is you want help camping i'll come

Plus i think its best soon i lvl my Thf to 30 and ranger to 15 to get a good low lvl farming job.

That's the problem tho. He doesn't need to farm 150k. He needs about 1 million gil to get all 4 pieces of equipment that he needs. Whilst it is perfectly farmable it is going to be a massive timesink and I find farming for long periods of time can be somewhat soul destroying and extended periods where I have done it have led to me enjoying the game a lot less.

                  That's the problem.
                  Kote: 450k
                  Fuma Kyahan: 100-130k
                  Brown Belt: 100-130k
                  Jujitsu Gi: 150k

Being a monk in a million dollar suit: Priceless

Not really if it's cost you 3-4 weeks to farm the cash.

Hit level 40 late last night and actually feeling a little burned out.

For the last couple of weeks hitting lvl40 was the aim. However, now that I'm here I'm not entirely sure what the big rush was and at a loss as to what to do. I have no cash (well about 5k) and I really want the Jujitsu Gi but the thought of having to farm up that amount of cash is somehwat disheartening (now you know why I was surprised to hear you apparently willing to farm 1 million gil ^^). I'm not adverse to farming, I've spent a ton of time doing it already which is probably why I don't feel like it at the moment.

Which leaves me at somewhat of a loss as to what to do. Got a 3 day weekend and don't really want to spend the entire time farming. Would much rather do something far more productive with the time. My current idea is to head over to Windurst *shudder* and work on building my fame over there. Currently completed zero quests in that town.

Finally got into the game tonight, and after eventually finding my way out of San d'Oria I bumped into Mahlory who hooked me up to the Linkshell and held my hand for a bit whilst I got a hit a lot A valuable experience as the game is certainly not newbie friendly, and its sheer size is intimidating. Cheers mate!

Great fun even in these early stages - after Mahlory left me to my own devices I managed to bump into an orcish fodder who chased me halfway across East Rofaune before beating me down. You should have heard me, I was screaming like a little girl.

Early stages though bud, like you said.

Everyone finds the game tricky as a new player. The good thing is, you've got experienced, and helpful, players in the LS to help you out. Mahlory being the obvious example.

                        See you around Vana'diel.

How much did it cost you to get all the teleport scrolls and warp to begin with?

You can quest for all the teleport scrolls and the warp scroll.
