Well, thanks for allowing me on the ENM run chaps.

I'm now at level 39, and I think I can be level 40 by Monday evening, at the latest.

On another note, I just checked the screenshots I've taken since I started playing the game, and I'm thinking of sorting through them, as I've got over 17MB worth.

Seems Genkai 5 is serving up a horror for you mate, once again last nght turned into a no play night after I fell asleep at 10. Tonight is my borthers 40th so can't make Dynamis or any fun after, pain in the arse but sure it'll be fun!

Disappointing weekend all told. Started well enough with anima farming on Friday for our planned attempt at Promyvion-Holla for Kuponut and Davi on Saturday. Myself, Moot and Davi all get anima and I also obtained a second set of recollections. Vanicent had 1 anima already.

Followed this up with a Promyvion-Dem ENM30 which was an interesting win (finally got to PT with Tobal?s COR ), and on the journey up we picked up aggro which dropped the remaining anima Van needed which was fortunate.

So Saturday gave us the main battle with the following setup:

NIN/war
NIN/war
BLU/thf
RNG/war
BLM/whm
WHM/blm

I provided everyone with 2 Poison Pots as that is what we used on my previous successful attempt. And everything went well to start with. Damage was consistent and we hit 75% and used the first anima combination. 50% soon followed but by this point I was slightly concerned as the 2 NIN hadn?t gotten a nice Provoke/Utsusemi rhythm sorted but we used the next anima combo. Between 25% and 50% Van?s damage started to mount up and the combination of this with the lack of decent enmity meant he started to pull hate but the final 25% anima call was made which was also agreed as the signal for Van to use Eagle Eye Shot. Well he pulled hate immediately and because the animas hadn?t been used yet ate an Empty Cutter which killed him.

Things went downhill from here, in most part because I think everyone panicked and didn?t give any thought as to what to do.

We got it down to 5% but then we simply couldn?t hit the boss to finish it off and the battle got extended beyond the duration of 2 Poison Pots which obviously stuffed things up. That combined with the NM using it?s drain TP attack meant we couldn?t finish it. So annoyingly close.

What frustrated me were comments afterwards which basically focussed on the loss being due to not enough Poison Pots and not having a SMN. This kind of thinking annoys me as I went through the chatlog to check for clues as to what went wrong and it was stupid mistakes:

RNG never immediately reraised and stayed KO?d for around a minute when we needed the extra damage to finish things off.

Myself and other NIN never used the Hi-Pots we brought for some reason.

I know one of the mages still had the Hi-Ethers left over after the fight.

I'm also unsure if the BLM used Manafont.

Melee were blind towards the end of the fight! - This I think is the biggie. I wondered why my attacks became a total whiff-fest. In an attempt to do as much damage as possible I was spamming shurikens none of which hit. Had we spotted this sooner and got Blindna I reckon it would have been finished.

All things considered it was incredibly close and I hope we can try again next weekend (maybe Friday evening)

I'd go with Rare on this SMN is a total luxury and with that level of anima you should be able to take it down with almost any party set up. Poison pots are a must as well as heavy regen drinks in my book, that only 1 melee but pots to a holla run is not good.

To me the whole of the Promyvions are about preperation and co-ordination, sure they can be zerged but any balanced party can win if its done right. Holla is nasty and has to be kept permanently debuffed with anima any gaps leaves the party open to death and disaster.

I have one item for you as well, why no icarus wings. One round of TP attacks from the mellee would have brought it down particularly co-ordinated with a manafont MB. In my book for promies better to have half you meds left that run out midfight. Take it Majin Gakure had no effect?

Tero as well to buy headroom at the end may help you with RNG and BLM in there, just nuke as it goes by

I synthed a stack of Poison Pots earlier in the day to hand out to people so the reason no one brought their own was because I informed them of that (Beregorn did bring his own however). As I said my previous win was cleared in the time of the duration of 2 Pots with an incredibly similar setup (was NIN, WAR/nin, WAR/thf, RNG BLM and WHM) so the only difference was another NIN and BLU in place of WARs.

Everyone did have MP/HP drinks too and I don?t think an Icarus Wing would have worked in the situation we were in as like I said we were blind. WS would have missed.

When/if we try again I?ll be altering the setup slightly. 2 NIN is not a great combination, and I think 1 NIN/war and 1 WAR/nin worked better as it had a balance of DD and evasion. BLU was an experiment but Moot said his spells were heavily resisted so it would be best if he came as WAR/nin next time in place of 1 NIN freeing up the spot for a 6th DD. Will need a volunteer for this most likely, and maybe 2 depending if Van can attend the next attempt.

Think I always budget 4 poison pots for the fight just in case, then I am the over prepared one.

Only change in set up then is mighty strikes, not usually the most dependable of 2 hours. Great when it lands but only needs a couple of misses, whats the BLU 2 hour?

Just a quick reminder for the Bastok Mission group (Tsing, Moot, Dara, DJ and myself). I think we are still set for 8-2 and whatever else we have time for tonight. Plan is for everyone to be at the ??? in Kuftal tonight to start the first fight promptly at 8.30pm. This will hopefully give us time to take care of at least 9-1 also before Moot has to leave.

I found a similar situation with RDM @ Lv30 on the CoP runs to be honest. Many spells resisted and didn't really bring much to the table so we reorganised with D as SMN and myself as BLM.

Yeah I?ll carry a few Echo Drops. I never recall Blind being a major factor in the previous battle otherwise I?d have made sure they were available. Whenever, you think Holla your immediate thought is combating Sleep.

I will also double the amount of poison (actually synthed 2 stacks of Mercury yesterday in preparation for a possible rematch that never happened). Even if it just acts as a placebo to inspire confidence.

Whilst I agree that Mighty Strikes is not the most reliable I know Moot combined it with a WS last time and did a decent bit of damage. The important thing though is that having a WAR/nin still provides the second Utsusemi tank that my NIN needs at lvl30 but has a greater DD output than a 2nd NIN does. Also, it frees up the 6th slot for a heavier DD (I know Apa has RNG at 30 and volunteered to help so I may call him in for that).

Talizker is spot on there, make sure you're there on time as we will start as soon as Tal is logged in. Make sure you have a HP in Basstok or way of getting there fast, times going to be critical if we're going to complete 9-1 as well.

If we can I'd like to finish 9-2 later in the week, same routine again everyone at the BC for log in time knock off the fight, have tea and cakes and celebrate.

That will then take me onto Windurst, anyone out there need those (6-1 onwards)
