    What was this amiga game??

Help me remember the name of this one as it's been nagging at me for ages now...

It involved (I think) navigating around the inside of somebody's mind (perhaps even your own) in a type of wireframe environment.

You could change form - I think between a wizard, a savage and maybe a female character as well and had to avoid/fight various bad things that existed in the world. Fighting was implemented by a type of electric current zapping between you and the enemy making a BZZZZ noise.

If you died there was a big skull and cross bones that got larger and larger with a big scary noise alongside it. This was progressively larger and more scary as you ran out of lives.

One of the most memrable parts was the music that accompanied the game - really atmospheric, mesmerising electronic ambient stuff, a little along the lines of Aphex Twins's Ambient Collection Vol 2 in parts.

    Any ideas???

None whatsoever I'm afraid, are you sure you didn't dream this?

Not that I haven't had similarly surreal dreams in my time, but no I'm pretty sure this was an actual piece of Amiga software....

Sounds a bit like Alpha Waves.

Found it - turns out it was one of the first Amiga games, "Mindwalker" by Bill Williams.

This page http://www.blachford.info/computer/walker/walker.html has a link to a review that pretty much sums up the game, and pays respect to Williams who unfortunately died in 98.

Seems like the guy was real pioneer in many ways - just listen to the music file which is also linked from the same page, beautifully eerie.

I think I will hunt down a decent emu to give this a play once more as it is bringing back very nice memories...
