    NTSC SNES Mario RPG help?

    Hi

Anyone have any idea which PAL game will let me play Mario RPG on the SNES?

Ive tried with a couple of different converters with loads of different games. The only one that does anything is Yoshis Island which prompts the message..

'This cartridge is not for your machine' (or something!) in coloured letters.

This is probably not the advice you want to hear, but I would recommend getting a US snes. I've messed around with those converters before and many games won't work at all, or have glitches or saving problems etc. Besides, you'll get to play the games in 60hz, like they were meant .

I was looking on e-bay for a brit enabled ntsc snes but obviously it'd be cheaper to find a game that bypasses the region lock.

I always thought it was one of those games that needed a later gen of import cart that let you input codes and such to bypass region protection... like an Action Replay.

TBH I can't say anymore... the SFC was my first import console so I never concerned myselves with adapters and such... I just laughed at my mates when I loaned games out and sometimes like Mario RPG, they didn't work.

There are two types of Mario RPG cart, one which will work with 'certain' later gen region import adapters, and the other which wont work at all. The best way to get it to work on a PAL snes is to modify the internals of the cart which is a bit of a pain.

The one that does work actually works with quite a few adapters, and it sounds like yours doesn't.
Why do you need a brit enabled NTSC snes?? surely you have your PAL machine for that??
I remember that my US mario RPG would not even work on my Famicom with a bridging adapter, which is just a straight though adapter, I ended up taking the pcb out of the cart case to play it.

Can your TV not Handle RGB at 60Hz?
I beleive that you have to run the copy of Mario RPG you have at 60Hz as this is part of the extra protection they are using.
The power supply is not a problem, maplins sell the connector for a US snes for around 80p, it will fit on a regular 9v adapter.

I'll try it out my TV downstairs. What TV connection do you get with an NTSC snes?

If I cant get it to work on my PAL I'll source a NTSC and nip over to Maplins

I bought Super Mario RPG earlier this year to find it wouldn't work on my PAL SNES at all I was using the "Universal Import Adapter" by Datel I think which works with 99% of imports.
