Just got a white Saturn from Chojin and a few games to get me started

Now recommend me some great shooters and beat em ups please

and erm do I need specific ram carts for games or do they generally work on all the games that need them

Generally The 4MB cart will see you through for 1MB games too, except KOF'95 which uses it's own ROM cart.

Nice little haul today. Now I don't usual buy Japanese megadrive games but at 40Y (25p) each I couldn't resist. Picked up Puyo Puyo, Ecco the Dolphin, Toe Jam and Earl, Gunstar Heroes and finally a copy Night Trap for mega cd, all for less than a price of a cup of tea. The missus was well please with Puyo puyo too.

Also expecting a huge delivery of cheap retro goodness tomorrow too from Surugaya, including a few more Megadrive, mega CD and Dreamcast games so I'll try and get a picture up.

I don't think so. KoF95 requires it's own cart, but games that require 1MB won't recognise the 4MB card.

AFAIK - All the 1MB games bar KOF '95 and Ultraman, which both use ROM carts, will run with the 4MB RAM cart but a handful of the SNK games have glitchy graphics.

Yeah KoF '96 has glitches and even crashes when using the 4MB cart instead of the 1MB. Also I think Samurai Spirits 4 (or it might be 3) has glitchy graphics as well. Think there are a couple of others but those are the two I had problems with.

If you plan to be playing 1MB & 4MB games constantly, you're best off getting an Action Replay 4-in-1 (http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-...en-70-1b2.html).

Bet you paid a lot less for Maximum Carnage than I'll be paying whenever I manage to get the JP version! Big bucks...

Interestingly the JP version has the PAL Mega Drive logo on the box and Genesis instructions...
