    Striker (SNES)

Anyone remember this super-charged SNES effort?

The ridiculously fast gameplay; played at such a pace, you could swear the players were taking illegal substances. It was fun in short bursts, especially the indoor football matches, which you don't see much of these days oddly enough. IMO it provided a nice alternative to Super Soccer at the time before Konami bestowed International Superstar Soccer on us and the rest from then on, is history.

Yeah I played a lot of this too and I also loved the indoor sections.

I remember now trying to line yourself up vertically with the top corner Sensible Soccer style so you could pelt a shot directly in.

I dont dare go back to this now because it will probably look and feel terribly dated now but I got many hours of enjoyment out of it when it was released.

The Indoor matches were brilliant, I also used to change the names to fit the people I play 5-A-Side with in Real Life. Shame they didn't save when you turned the Cart off.

Number 5 (Adams for England) Me, always used to score.

        So did I oddly enough.

Something satisfying about buring an in-game hat-trick.

Heh yeah, one kind of related memory was me as a kid getting excitied whilst playing this game, kicking the three way plug that was powering the snes, tv and video and knocking it out. That kick killed the TV, had to a get a mate (whos snes it was) to get it repaired for me at his work.

Back to the game, I bet its not aged very well indeed, may fire it into ZSnes oneday.

Yeah man, before ISS this was the fizzle!

Me and my mate stayed up one night changing all the names, which you couldnt save, only to press the wrong button when we were done to erase them all

            gah

I remember the Amiga version. Poor substitute for the SNES, sadly.

I think I beat Malawi 36-0 as Italy in this game, just kept on crossing the ball for those little flick on headers.

They were great, also loved the superb echo effect used indoors too, much like I loved the title music with the rotating in the background.

Great game in its day. The MD version was utter tripe in comparison

This game was so fast paced, all i remember doing though was scoring using those hot spots where the ball would automatically go in I dont remembr any game not ending in double figures. It was pretty easy.

Yeah, that was the fun in two player, see what the score would end up. I love Sensible Soccer on the SNES as well, scoring from near the half-way line on the easier settings, without the Star Players.

Used to have this. If I remember correctly Striker's main tune was/similar to the Chelsea tune 'blue is the colour, chelsea is the name'. I may be worng though, anyone?
