Doom 32X Problem

I got this game working the other day when much to my dismay I found myself with all the weapons, keys, full armour and full ammo. I restarted the game and it happened again, suddenly. It turns out then whenever I hold C then press B, the all weapons cheat is activiated. This is kinda bad, as to strafe and fire, you have to hold C and press B.

Does anyone else have this problem? could it be a joypad specific problem? I'm using competition pro 6 buttons.

It's years since I played this, but I know I never came across that problem. GameFAQs says that the cheat codes are

U+M+A+C: Gain 3 keys, all weapons with 500 ammo each, 200% armor
U+M+X+Z: Toggle invincibility on/off

so I can only think that it is a controller issue. Have you tried it with an official one, or an unofficial 3 button?

^ my current solution is to swap the button configurations for A and C around, but it still seems odd.

Best to use an official pad tbh...some of the unofficial ones do funny things to some md games (although bizarrely a 3rd party 6 button pad loves my Golden Axe 2 whereas the official doesn't)
