    Quick Sega Nomad Query

Hi, i just bought this Sega nomad on e-bay, and it arrived this morning. But the only problem is that it doesn't come with a power adapter in the box. Since the Nomad is from the US, is it correct to assume that I can only use a US sega adapter, or do you think it would work with a PAL/European adapter?

    Thanks for any feedback,

    Tamer

You can use astandard Megadrive 2 PSU, It's what I've always used on mine.

Hi Fastware, thanks for getting back to me.

Could you just tell me if the MD2 PSU you use with your nomad is from the US, or the UK?

      Thanks again,

      Tamer

        Hi,

it makes no difference. It's the output voltage that must be right. Take a look at the NOMAD and you will see next to the power socket or on the back it will have a voltage rating (prob 9V). Make sure that whatever adapter you use is outputting whatever it says on the machine (possibly 9V). The only other thing to worry about is polarity. There will probably be a little diagram next to the power socket or again a label, which shows whether the centre pin is possitive or negatively charged. Make sure your adapter is outputting correspondingly.

Bothe US and UK adapters will output the same, the only difference is that a UK adapter requires a 240V Alternating Current (UK mains) input whereas a US adapter requires a 110V Alternating Current (US mains) input. This is why we use a stepdown transformer when running US equipment in the UK. The stepdown reduces the UK 240V to the US 110V, allowing us to run US and Japanese consoles and adapters.

Any tips on how to remove the screen of the Nomad without opening the machine? It's really hard to get something under the screen without causing damage to the area around it.

Whatever you do, don't burn a hole in it with a soldering iron and crack the remaining screen off in little pieces.

Yes, that was the best idea I could come up with at the time
