    New york!New york!

I'm heading to NewYork in the near future and would like to know if anyone knows of any retro game shops or good places for finding retro stuff.

J&L Trading in Elizabeth Street (Chinatown) is a fantastic Import Retro shop. They had thousands of games for every system I could think of. The many Gamestops around Manhattan also stock retro stuff, but it's always US versions, and the condition can range from reasonable to dragged-through-a-hedge-backwards.

J&L trading is great but expensive, don't expect to walk round New York and get loads of stuff cheap either, internet prices will not be found. New games that can be had online for $25-35 will cost you between $50-69.

Multimedia 1.0 on St Marks Place (Greenwich Village) is pretty good, quite small, but stacked to the ceiling with tons of systems and games (Had some Neo Geo stuff, lots of PS1/DC, a few imports). Be prepared to hunt if you want a bargain though. They were having a refit last time I was over there (in January), so I don't know what they are like now. Best picks last time was the Onimusha sword controller for the PS2 (new) for $80, DC Bomberman Online (new), $10.

Genrally, avoid Gamestop/EB like the plague, head to electronic/general stores, such as Best Buy for new games/bargains. Toys R Us are pretty good for finding random old stuff for next to nothing (25 new copies of Perfect Dark anyone?).
