    Best and worst Capcom games

    What are they?

Streetfighter 2 and Final Fight Revenge? What about the endless stream of Megamans?

    #2
Strider, Ghouls n Ghosts, Captain Commando, Street Fighter Zero 3, Power Stone...there are so many good Capcom games it's hard to pick the best. They are a fine developer and no mistake.

Worst Capcom game - well it's not strictly a Capcom game as it was coded by US Gold but Strider Returns was pretty stinky. I never really 'got' the Dino Crisis series but I don't suppose that alone makes it crap.

capcoms best title is resident evil 1 remake (no point in arguing because this is TRUE)

Capcoms worst game is chaos legion (piece of stinking rubbish)

The best Capcom games is a thread all of it's own - there are so many amazing games that we all know and love - from 1942 and Commando right the way through to SFIII and DMC3.

My own personal favourites would have to be:

Ghosts & Goblins (arcade version) - still charming, great music, tough as old leather, fantastic and the first platformer I fell in love with
Area 88 (arcade, SNES/SFC) - one of the best horizontal shooters ever. There is nothing to dislike here - apart from the glaring omission of a save feature on the cracking Ninty version - GBA port now, please.
1942 (arcade) - simple, repetitive, no frills, pattern-learning genius that is addictive as crack
Side Arms (arcade, PCE) - probably the first shooter I can remember playing with fancy power ups - still love it to death, and love the fact that the little main character sprite still crops up even today!
Street Fighter Alpha/Zero 3 (Arcade, Saturn, DC) - my favourite SF title - infinitely playable, stacks of characters, nice cartoony look - magical
Pang series (arcade, various) - can remember always looking forward to going to the CIU working men's club my parents belonged to solely for this bad boy - still loving it today
Capcom vs SNK series (arcade, various) - Bogard vs Masters - enough said
Power Stone (Arcade, DC) - a truly original and utterly bonkers beat 'em up, that everyone I introduce to it falls in love with

In terms of the worst, I would have to say:

King Of Dragons - disappointing Golden Axe clone
Devil May Cry 2 - not so retro, but disappointing as hell
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure - a beat 'em up that we could do without
1943 - over egged the simplicity of 1942, and overbalanced the gameplay with unecessary wealth of power ups
Final Fight (SNES version) - blame Nintendo perhaps, but this diluted conversion of one of my favourite ever coin-ops was a waste of the power of the 16 bit Ninty
Megaman post-SNES - as thread starter alludes to - does anyone really care any more?
Super Street Fighter II (Arcade, various) - apart from Cammy, the evolution of the series is scuppered by three ****-awful new characters, and a lack of turbo speed on the initial SNES conversion meant disappointment quickly followed the initial feverish excitement

Please note I found it a lot harder to think of the worst titles. One of the top 5 developers of all time, easily.

super street fighter 2 was great. I don't get why people hate it so much. the new characters were fantastic (except for deejay, but even he was alright in my book) the revamped moves and stages and inclusion of the super moves. what's not to like about it?

Yeah.. Super was dodgy but Super Turbo is a fantastic game. I got it for the my US 3DO back in 94 and it blew-me-way. The graphics-animation and sound were much better than any fighter I had played; and who can foget the amazing start-up.

It's still a great game- probably my favourite SF along side Alpha3!

well said kingston lj. I totally forgot about the start up! although I must confess, the super street fighter version was better than the turbo version. I just thought that having cammy licking her tongue out and lezzing it up with chun li was rather crass and vulgar.

I love 19xx: battle against destiny (if memory serves). I remember being blown away playing it on a big screen in the local arcade. Black Tiger and Mercs also stick out in my mind.

Sorry my lucha libre monikered friend - I should have realised that every time I slag off a 2D Capcom fighter, a kitten dies.

                      Therefore - Jojo's RULES!

I kinda liked Jojo, the problem was that at the time it seemed like Capcom were releasing a new 2D fighter every week and it kinda got lost. Most people avoided it because it looked a bit 'strange' and picked stuff like Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Marvel Vs Capcom instead.

Some of the best Capcom games for me (mainly because they still hold up today) include

                          Strider (of course)
                          Street Fighter 3 Third Strike
                          Alien Vs Predator
                          1944: The Loop Master
                          UN Squadron
                          Powerstone 2
                          Mercs
                          Chiki Chiki Boys
                          Shadow Over Mystara

As for worst, I now find Street Fighter 2 complete gash

Some of my favourites: SF2 Turbo, SF Zero 2, Ghosts 'n Goblins, Commando, Bionic Commando (horribly underrated), Resident Evil 1&4, Megaman 2, Final Fight (arcade), Area 88 (SNES).

As for what I didn't like... can only think of Section Z and 1943 currently.
Lie with passion and be forever damned...

Hehe no worries. After reading 70+ comics of JoJo i'm a bit of a fanboi. So any game = great in my book.

Glad to see you spotted where the name came from, you've gone up in my estimation.
