The actual SNES in question isn't here yet (bought it off the trading forums) and it might actually be coming with a proper RGB cable, not managed to find out as yet.

Once it arrives I'll try my Cube cable and see what happens.

strange, - I have an official RGB cable and a 3rd party 5 quid one

and my PAL unmodded SNES works ok (probably composite) with the 5 quid lead, and NOT AT ALL with the official RGB lead

great huh? now I hear its supposed to work, hmm maybe time to dig the old friend out.

Turns out the SNES I've bought only comes with an AV lead, so I've just bitten the bullet and bought a cable from Raven Games. Just under ?15 including postage, and it saves me from butchering any leads! Even if my Cube cable works I'd rather have a different lead for each, TBH.

Quite a few people add resistors, I personally have never deemed it necessary - probably down to personal preference.

Chances are you had an RGB scart cable, but your TV was only displaying composite video.
Thankfully my other TV gives a colour display with them
