Problem with NTSC Conker's Bad Fur Day

    Hi,
I recently bought Conker's Bad Fur Day NTSC along with a Nintendo 64 converter. (I have a PAL N64)
However, the game doesn't want to start, despite being brand new.
As you all know, one needs to have a PAL game inserted in the back of the converter as well. I tried Super Mario 64, Goldeneye, Banjo-Kazooie, Mission: Impossible and Mario Kart 64, but none of these made the converter even start.

Then I tried with PAL Perfect Dark and Donkey Kong 64, which resulted in the converter starting up, but alas, just a black screen with no game.
What do you think could be the problem here?
Is the converter dated and doesn't support Conker's BFD or do I need another PAL game?
I also tried cleaning the converter and the PAL games, but didn't result in anything new.

"Please help me, you're my only hope!"

I think its a known problem mate, you need an NTSC N64 basically...the convertors don't work...

Yeah, so I've heard, but I know people who play CBFD with converters, and it seems to work for them.
I was told just now that you'd need a PAL game without a battery, which basically means that you ought to have a game which you save with a memory card.

But I don't know if that's correct, and if it should be so, I need to buy one of those games.

Don't know what converter you're using, but the only one worth having is the passport plus 3 http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-...n64-70-2q.html . This one plays every import I own (with the exception of ntsc perfect dark). A lot of the converters are useless. I've owned some that will boot only a handful of games. Same goes for the original passport, and to a lesser degree, the passport plus 2. You use a boot cart with no battery simply to avoid corrupting saves. Unfortunately I've not tried CBFD, as I have the pal version. But if you really get stuck, pm me. You can stick it in the post and I'll test it for you. Cheers.

Thanks a million, it's a wonder that you still can order such an old relic
I'm gonna buy one today, hopefully it'll arrive sometime next week.
Shipment to Sweden may take a little longer though...

Sorry to say this, but it's a gash game. Truly over-rated.

Got a spare copy though if you think it's a problem with the cart.

Well, I truly love it. I've played it on an emulator numerous times, and had a blast.
It's no problem with the cart, though, bought it brand new, wrapped and all. But I don't have it anymore. A goofy salesman at my locas games store agreed to trade the NTSC version for a pre-owned PAL version.
Of course the offer was great, which means I can now play it without any converter whatsoever.
Plus, I still got the brand new package left so I'm pretty content, I must confess.
