An easy pal collection to complete

Barring the DC, what would be the easiest Pal console to collect for in terms of rarity and cost?

I've always wondered what the obsession of collecting a complete set of games is like and thought about giving it a try...

I was considering that but have also been looking at the Megadrive. I know Alien Soldier is a lot, but most other titles seem obtainable (ie under ?60)

Not too many games on N64. Finding them all in acceptable condition might take a while though

Overall the 7800's probably the easiest - small library (60ish, I think) and most can be had for pennies.

The Master System isn't too bad, but there's a lot more (280), and Smurfs 2 is a proper bitch to find (there's only been one copy on eBay since 2002).
The Mega Drive library is about twice the size, but doesn't have anything that's crazy-rare - with patience even the rarest can be had for ?30-?40 tops.

32X & MegaCD are both fairly small library's, but they each have a couple of loony rares.

If you don't mind loose carts, the PAL N64 shouldn't be too bad. Boxed is a different ballgame, but not impossible

The Amstrad GX4000 is an interesting one - PAL only, small library (26ish, I think) but at least half of them are seriously hard to find.

Neo Pocket seems a popular one to go for aswell - very small library, but the last few get very spendy.

            Sod pal and go jp

NGCD is piss easy to finish bar 2 titles...but by far and away the easiest is the Supergrafx which was my first complete set..only 5 titles! (plus a couple of regular pce ones that supposedly benefit from the extra power of the sgx)

Otherwise Pal Saturn isn't too hard to complete..about 240 titles iirc and iirc you have the spendiest already (PD Saga).

Or you could cheat and go for Pal MCD32x games..only 4!

              Are there lists anywhere?
Also, I wouldn't include european stuff as they're probably not in English. So I'd be going after stuff that was released in the UK/

Digital Press has complete listings for most of 'em - there's a few new cut-down lists here: http://digitpress.com/lists/ or otherwise search their Online Database for "Non-US Releases"

I would be tempted to say that Sega Saturn is probably the easiest decent PAL system to complete a collection for. By decent, I mean with a reasonable number of titles.

There are a few tough games to find, but they are nothing like as rare as the rare MCD & 32X games. And at 247 titles for a full collection, it has to be an easier job than Master System or Megadrive. Plus that damn Smurfs game is going to scupper you on the Master System.

As for the Megadrive, it's a big task - but eminently as doable as Saturn, I would say. With patience, pretty much everything will come up in the end, and the rarest will not set you back an outrageous price. Again, not so with the MCD and the 32X.

What are the more expensive Megadrive games then? I thought Alien Soldier was the rarest, but you can buy it for under ?70 which is nice

I'd have to agree with everyone. The PAL Megadrive library and PAL Mega CD library have been my main focus for the past two years. I've limited it (for money reasons) to only the late release blue boxes on MD and black boxes in MCD (basically the games that came in similar packaging to one another).
The rarest PAL MD are hard to find but at least show face every now and again. But there are some arses of games like Seperation Anxiety that take AGES between copies (as far as i am aware i won the last complete copy a few months ago now).
The PAL Mega CD is awful to collect for. The only reason i am one copy of Fatal Fury SPecial away from a complete collection is because ive been very sneaky and bought games from shops and collectors who advertised their sale at the very furthest reaches of the internet. Adv Batman and Robin came from a very hard to find spanish site and Syndicate from a collector.

I didn't know about Smurfs 2 on master system. SOunds like a challenge!!! hehe.

If i were you id consider collecting all the EURO/ OZ releases of Game Gear titles. I can provide you with cover scans/ box shots of nearly all the games if you want. Its what ill tackle once ive done MD and MCD. Altho the games are hard to find boxed and complete they do show eventually and wont command TOO high a price.

I would go with the 32X.

If you want to collect all the pal games you will have only 1 or 2 games hard to find and the rest is almost all dirty cheap.
I went 32X to have a complete collection of all the games and made it in few monthsn the other hand,I never managed to get a complete neo geo collection or dc collection...too much titles and too much money.

How rare is Panzer dragoon saga (sp?) for Saturn now then? I remember it went for ?100+ on Ebay at one point

Darxide and primal rage are just too challenging for me on the 32X i could NEVER afford them on a student budget.

As for the RAREST and DEAREST PAL Megadrive releases? Id say the following are common and appear on eBay a lot but fetch high prices:
                              Alien Soldier
                              Phantasy Star IV
                              Probotector
                              Shining Force II
                              Streets of Rage 3

and for RARE ones that actually dont crop up much:
                              Art Of FIghting
Asterix and the Power of the Gods
                              Daze Before Christmas
                              Death and Return of Superman
                              Ecco Jr
Izzy's Quest For The Olympic Rings
                              Megaman The Wily Wars
                              Punisher
                              Saturday Night Slammasters
                              Seperation Anxiety
                              Spiderman The Animated Series
                              Zero The Kamikaze Squirrel
