I can't see what all fuss over Splatterhouse is about. Number 2 is merely a very mediorce scrolling affair dressed up in nice graphics and design. I found it incredibly mundane. I've never played part 1, part 3 is a bit better with at least a little more variety. But once you get over the gore gimmick they are very dull games imo.

As for the fuss about Splatterhouse..well you're just wrong
. Part 2 is the weakest certainly, part 3 is a fairly entertaining scrolling beat em up affair. But part one is just a seminal game. Given the time it came out, the age many of us would have been at the time, the paralells with Jason, the whole creepy gorefest thing, just a great game. Plus, as has been alluded to already, the lack of a widespread decent home conversion (pce aside which is a good effort) is just criminal.
