    CGEUK Roll Call

Ok then guys, this Saturday is gonna be great fun. I've got a stall right next to CGEUK's and will probably be stuck on there all day, so if people want to come along and have a chat then feel welcome to.

Are you up there for the day, or overnight or what? I would probably be up for it if I can grab a lift, and it is a day-only thing.

We're talking Arnhem Gallery, Fairfields in Croydon right? (If so anyone need a lift)

Just don't ask if it's connected to the original US CGE - I did, and got banned from the forums for doing so. Was planning on going until that happened

Christ, go anyway mate. There's going to be loads fo stuff for sale and you may miss out on some real bargains (and all because you got banned from a simple forum and are holding on to your pride .

Nah, I probably would if it was closer, but it'd be something like a 300 mile trip for me.
I'll save my money for something else where the organisers don't a) try to trade on the good name & reputation of an existing but totally unconnected event and b) ban people from their forums for asking perfectly innocent questions.

Oh well, your loss I suppose. I'm looking forward to a great day out

Just to add my 2p worth...

I know Chris (the organiser) and at no point has he tried to trade on the name of the US CGE. He will openly tell you that CGEUK has nothing to do with its US counterpart.

He is a good fella as it happens and should be commended for putting his life into running a show that is not only popular, but needed in the retro scene IMHO.

Shame you are not going as it looks like it will be better than last years event.

                          Regards
                          Simon

I don't want to get involved in an arguement about it, but I honestly fail to see how using the name of a different established event (albeit with a UK suffix) isn't blatantly attempting to trade on the name - it's not as if no other alternatives were available.
Sure, they will say there's no link if asked about it, but why not avoid any possible confusion and pick an original name in the first place? It's kinda like launching a new soft drink and calling it Coca-Cola UK.

Anyway, I don't want to bitch, and hope anyone going has a fine day - as I said, I would have gone if I was closer, but can't justify spending ?50+ on travel for a single day's event that would probably end up with me spending an arm and a leg anyway

I really, really wish I was going to this but, as fate would have it, my girlfriend is directing at play at the Edingburgh Fringe so I have to go watch that. Still I guess I can attend Go Play Games and check out Twighlight Princess while I'm there.

                              Maybe next year then.
