Given the amount of quality Western titles - I would have though it would peak interest in a fair number of people.

I offered Strider a loan of my machine and games a while ago but at the time he had loads of machines still to go.

I've got the Car Marty up in my loft somewhere too, don't even know if it works, never set it up. Also got the 2 meg expansion for it that I thought would let me run the likes of Super Streetfighter 2 on it but either the expansion does not work or I'm doing something wrong.

Wahey. My car marty arrived this morning just in time for me to ogle the large box from japan and go to work. Can't wait to get home..although I know it doesn't work..but for ?5 you can't really argue. Expect piccies in a certain thread later

You mean the 486 pc version?

Sorry if that sounds like a silly question but the whole marty terminology confuses me still.

In fact is this the correct terminology..?

FM Towns - the home pc hence FM Towns 1 (386) and FM Towns 2 (486)
FM Towns Marty aka Marty - the console version hence Marty 1 and Marty 2 (extra ram).

        Cheers all.

Yeah, fairly certain in needs the 486pc version. TBH not 100% sure though but it was sold to me as not being Marty compatible.

Thanks. The whole marty thing sees shrouded in mystery sadly. I'll see if any of my japanese mates have a good faq or guide or something. Even a release catalogue would be nice even if it was the same poor standard as the md guide (not the proto one which is actually pretty good)

Ancient bump because I didn't want to start a new topic. But how many system exclusives are there that are worth looking into?

The first Rayxanber is FM Towns only, but isn't so great. And Tatsujin-Oh is the only home port I know of. What else is there on the system which is exclusive for it? Most of those are ports.

I'm actually writing something for Hardcore Gaming 101, on obscure Japanese games, so if anyone wanted to help and provide a mini-review of an exclusive FM Towns game (I'm focusing on the computer, not the consolised Marty), that would be cool (50-100 words, and one really good screen). Your name would go with it and a link to your site, or NTSC-uk, whichever you prefer.

I owned a marty, but never had any games for it! Up until last year I was always considering buying another, but when I looked in to it, the prices of the games were just ridiculous. I'd be interested in reading the feature though!

Yeah, I'd be interested in reading the feature. Read that list and would love the Bubble Bobble/Rainbow Islands/TNZS games, but realise I have them on every other format possible (even had the JAMMAs for 2 of em) so can't justify it… can I?

                  Can I?

Maybe double feature it with the X68000 too, another bubble bobble version.............

The list was Big Al's which I quoted. I'm trying to avoid ports and focus only on exclusives (unless it was the only home port, such as for Tasujin).

Megamorph by Psygnosis is exclusive, very much in the vein of Microcsom & Scavenger 4/Novastorm

Ahh yes - thanks for posting. Have that. Played it and hated it though. Like a really poor FMV rail shooter.

I don't reckon there any of note, same could be said for X68K, sans Geograph Seal.

Do a feature on the Genocide games, they deserve it 0_o, and other side scrolling robot games...Mad Stalker, Armour Police Metal Jack etc.

Die Bahnweld and Aquales are both pretty rad on the X68k. Better than Geograph Seal I'd say. This is what I like about these systems - there's always a hidden gem somewhere.

Well there you go you can add Aquales to your robo side scrolling feature

Geograph Seal is boss though imo, love the intro music.
