I mainly use emulation now, despite owning a US CDX (multi-mega) and conversion carts.

I found the actual hardware less than reliable, but my PC or Xbox will boot up any CD without problem.

Well, until now the CD+ cart gave me no problems (but I own few games, about ten), apart few graphic glitches on some of them (Wonder Dog, Mickey Mania).

I'm interested in the region change thing. Someone has more infos about it? (or even some links).

Maybe I'll take the emulation way, too...

Another option is to have a multi region bios & switches installed.

I'd abolsutely avoid the JPN version of Popful Mail at all costs. The original script was fairly boring, and the localisation done by Working Designs still to this day, stands as one of the best ever done on a videogame. Funny, subtle, and all round very well done. Who the heck would pay extra just to listen to Megumi Hayashibara, and then miss out on all the jokes?! (not to mention farting, as was noted by Victor Ireland in a recent interview, he said his mission in life was to try and sneak as many farts into the dialogue tracks of games translated by WD as possible.)

If you like FMVs, I also recomend Ground Zero Texas, which was my personal favourite. I saw it for a fiver in Gamestation the other week.

Also, the Sega CD patching program you want is ConvSCD. A google should bring it up, or you can check out Zophars Domain. Most games work, though FMV tends to skip. (Popful Mail works like this, though the cinemas end up garbled)

I used a different program from Zophars, but I hear this one is actually technically better.

I seem to recall being fairly amused by the JP script, but it's been ages since I played it so can't remember exactly.

Megumi is a joy to listen to, and I have no interest in fart jokes. I'm also not a fan of Working Designs. I know they have a cult following, and they make very nice packaging for their translations, but they take far too many liberties with the original source material, their voice acting is without exception painfully bad. They seem to aim everything at 12 year old boys... I prefer companies to leave work as the creators intended, and just translate the text into English.

You can translate things and preserve the original humour, Nintendo managed it brilliantly with Animal Crossing,

Oh yeah, to the Mega CD. If you have switches on both I imagine you can play 99% of games, if not all.

I personally would settle for anything rather than nothing. I assume you are fluent in Japanese?

PM still stands as their best localisation, as said by them even. They poured more resources into PM than many of their other titles.

I personally think their spicing up of the text worked a treat, and for once could actually be regarded as acceptable. I only wish it made it to Europe.

Oh well, each to their own.

Well said Kotatsu Neko. Have you ever played the US version of Magical Knigh Rayearth on the Saturn? I wanted to cut off my ears !! I don't really like the American accent anyway but when it's really put on it just goes right through me !

Jurassic Park, Third World War , Cliffhanger , (for the 3D Snowboarding parts), Wing Commander are worth getting too.

                          Very Underrated system

Not fluent, but understand enough for simple stuff like Popful Mail.

Maybe that's part of the appeal of the JP version, but I think it's mostly Hayashibara-chan doing her thing.

I'm a big fan of the Mega CD and I think Sonic CD, Final Fight, Keio Flying Squadron and Robo Aleste are the best games on the syatem. The great thing about these games is that you could actually buy them in the UK!

Final Fight CD - just picked up a disc only copy of this, albeit in very nice condition. How much is this worth? If anyone wants to buy it LMK ; )
