Saturn 2d Fighters

O.k, Ive seen the saturn 2d shooters thread and found it very helpful in deciding which ones to get. So im going to start getting some 2d fighters on the saturn and would appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.

some questions...

is it worth having both xmen vs sf and marvel vs sf?

zero 3 is tempting but is it worth the money?

vampire series yay or nay?

best kof on saturn?

samurai showdown 3 or 4?

fatal fury games any good?

Any other good fighters im missing?

Lastly gonna get a saturn stick. Ive seen two versions, a u.k and a japanese one (the jap one looks proper). And hear the u.k one is not micro-swicthed does this matter? is it the same story with the jap one?

Buy the white Sega Virtua stick (I think the part no. is HSS-0136) or the Hori Fighting Stick SS, both are good quality and microswitched. The official UK stick is turd, steer clear of it.

No idea what the Saturn versions are like, but SS4 and Real Bout FF Special are top games.

I'd say SFZero 3 is the best fighting game overall on the SS.

SamSho 4 is a miles, miles better game than 3 but the Saturn version of 3 is more faithful to the original.

Don't forget X-Men COTA, it's the best of the Xmen games imo.

X-Men COTA is in my view the finest 2D Fighter ever made, and is just something else on the Saturn

You could check out waku waku 7 and golden axe the duel. Both slightly non-mainstream but decent still

Its worth it. Its not bad at all and some of the special moves look great (Stunning effects) just a same that the controls aren't the best.

Personally I'd only bother with one of the Vs games, depends on which characters you want, but I'd go for X Men v SF. I prefer the music and it's more fun to play IMO.

You definitely need to get Vampire Savior, too. ****ing beautiful sprites, some of 'em are huge, and the general style and feel of the game is top.

I wouldn't bother with Fatal Fury 3, just get Real Bout Special instead.

I'm not a huge KoF fan, but out of the two I've got ('95 and '96) I reckon '96 is a lot better.

Just buy all of them, like I am trying to do. I haven't played a bad one yet. the Saturn owns every console ever made (with perhaps the exception of teh Neo) for fighters. My personal favourite (at the moment) is Street Fighter Alpha 2 Dash from the Street Fighter Collection. It is spanking gorgeous.
