    snes converter help. chrono

i dusted off my old snes and started giving it a go. back in the day i used a games master converter to run jap/usa games on my pal snes. i remember late 1994 a few games started appearin that wouldnt work with my converter. and they kept releasing new converters. but i think it actually worked on some games that some earlier converters couldnt. i want to get hold of chrono trigger but i cant remember if my converter will do it! anyone know what games were affected and what converters were able to beat them? it works on starfox usa & jap. help

Chrono Trigger works with my converter, a Fire one, iirc

I don't think Chrono Trigger has full compatability with any converter. IIRC, the endings won't run properly (if at all). I know that FFIII has the same issue with PAL machines.

I played through Chrono Trigger including the multiple endings and had no problems running with my converter (except the usual slowdown/squashed picture associated with running on PAL hardware). It was labelled "Games Master 2".

However, FFIII with the same converter suffered from lots of graphical glitches which rendered the game near unplayable.

Chrono Trigger has no problems with the Fire converter. However, the ending in Final Fantasy III does not work properly, there's sound but the screen goes black.

            cheers.
i need to try and make sure it will run with my games master converter before i buy chrono. i think it may be the newer version. no markings on it other than the caution warning on the back and slot a/b on the top. has a blue gamesmaster sticker on the front. i wish i could find a list somewhere of affected games. i know some games like dragonball, yoshis island, was there a newer parodius? castlevania x i'm guessing.. most of the games came out long after i was done with my snes and onto my ps1.

It sounds very similar to the one I've got. Mine has a blue sticker saying "Games Master 2".

Of the other stuff I've tried, Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius doesn't work at all with it, and Dragon Ball Z Hyper Dimension only works about once in 4 or 5 tries. I believe Mario RPG won't work either.

Castlevania X won't work on my Fire converter.

I have got a converter that works with all of the games I have tried on it, including Chrono and Yoshi's Island. I have a spare one going - it is one of those Universal Adapter ones - PM me if you or anyone else is interested
