    The Retro Ball Fighting Zone...

So Console Passion have the arduous job of running the Fighting Zone at the Retro Ball in December. Yay!

As I'm away next month climbing Kilimanjaro (shameless plug in the hope of some sponsorship money!) I have to get most of this planned in the next few weeks.

So off I go thinking about what I should bring, or more accurately what I should leave. And I kind of get stuck because, to be honest, I don't know what will get well received and what won't. If experience has taught me anything (from the last three or four shows) it is something that is impresses me won't necessarily impress others.

And so I throw the ball in to your court. The attendees. What do you want me to bring? What would you like to play against others? What have you never played before. What do you think sucks and if you saw it would (accidentally of course) pour beer over.

This show is for you guys and gals, so let me know what you want. After all - if you don't ask, you don't get.

I have a few ideas so far - feel free to shoot me down in flames - I'm thick skinned and I'd rather berated now than at the show once it's too late...

    ------------------------
    Amiga 500 and IK+ (2 Player)
SNES + Street Fighter 2 Turbo (2 Player)
Super Famicom + Street Fighter Zero 2 (2 Player)
Sega Megadrive + Streets of Rage 3 (2 Player)
Commodore 64 + The Way of the Exploding Fist (2 Player)
Dreamcast + Soul Blade + Dreamcast Fighting Sticks (2 Player)
    Dreamcast + Powerstone 2 (4 Player)
    Neo Geo + KOF2001 / Sengoku (2 Player)
Saturn + Virtual On + Twinsticks (2 Player)
Saturn + *insert marvel/capcom etc, etc game here* (2 player)
Gamecube + Super Smash Bros Melee (4 Player)
    PS2 + Guilty Gear Isuka (4 Player)
    3DO + Samurai Showdown (2 Player)
    PS1 + Tekken 1/2/3???? (2 Player)
    --------------------------

That's just my ideas so far - obviously it far from exhaustive and I won't bring all of them. But I'd like some input at this (early) stage from you lot.

    So off you go...

Oh, and if anyone is in the Blackpool area and has any Limes they can spare in the next hour or so LMK - Tesco Metro has run out and Corona just isn't the same with Lemons (Or Jiff for that matter either).

Not bad...what about these bad boys:

    Tekken 5: PS2
    SF3 3rd Strike: PS2/DC
    KOF 98-still THE best KOF
Super Streetfighter 2 Turbo: Arcade (?)

Saturn - sfz3 and the dual arcade stick. Makes me weep with pleasure.
And I'd say sor2 for the md, much better than 3 but easier, and sengoku 3 over sengoku, but that's just me.

      IK+ and Fist

Sam Sho 3DO is probably unneccessary with Neo Gro there, tho 2K1 KOF is fine choice.

How about IK+ on C64 with 3 players...?

KOF 2001 is NOT a fine choice. KOF 98 is the definitive King of Fighters game, bar none.

Final Fight maybe able to make it on there?

Remember watching this guy clock it without losing a life. The game was set on the easiest level though...

That's opinion innit, I think the majority have swayed to 2K2 for competitive these days.

What about Eternal Champions on MD/MCD? That had a big following back in the day...

                    What majority? Which tournaments?

KOF 2002 is good but not the best. Doesn't have the charm of 98-FACT!

                      Echo!

If you're worried about it being too easy, you can always ramp it up to "Very Hard" which is difficult even for the best players (like myself ). Failing that, there's a "Mania" mode that you can find details of somewhere on the internet which is ludicrously difficult.
