    My Megadrive evening

So this evening I was ready to play some games for a couple of hours but really couldn't be arsed with getting into something too deep and making a big time commitment, so who better than Sega to offer me 16-bit-shaped arcadey thrills?
    So tonight I played:

Fantasy Zone - got to level 6, 340k-odd points - furthest I've got and level 6 is a real bastard if you die more than once coz the shop doesn't come back and the enemy circle is evil.
Devil Crush - got about 7.9mil and beat two of the bosses on the first table, probably my 3rd go playing this.
Shadow Dancer - got to level 4-2 - my best so far and my g/f liked watching this coz it had more of a varied dynamic i.e. 8-way scrolling levels and the dog gimmick.

And the g/f played Global Gladiators for a bit but she got bored after a while coz the levels are a bit long and samey, but at least she got her entertainment.

All in all, we both had fun and it was ace. So get your Megadrives out and if you have Fantasy Zone, start showing off

I had a play of my genesis this evening playing Revenge Of Shinobi, and managed to get to the mecha godzilla boss, I have the UK version, and noticed it has differences from the JP version Super Shinobi, for a start the rambo looking guys with the machine guns no longer look like rambo, the batman boss looks changed from batman, and mecha godzilla seems very bony, don't remember him lookng like that before...I wonder why they made these particular changes, seems strange.

I don't have fantasy zone, is it worth searching out?

There are Japanese versions of Super Shinobi that also have the ****ty Batman and Godziller in them. Sega had to change the code since they only got the license to use Spiderman and not the others. Only the first print of the Japanese Super Shinobi has rambo, Batman and Godzilla.

If I get Super Shinobi I'd definately want the uncensored version. Are the boxes different for the two Japanese releases?

Super Fantasy Zone is ace, so yes, definitely. I also have the Ages version of the arcade Fantasy Zone for Saturn, which is ace too.
That electric level (6) is a real bastard though, but oddly enough when I went to bed last night I was reading a book and then suddenly sussed what I needed to do to beat it, so it's going on again when I get home

So the first print edition of the Super Shinobi would probably be of greater value, due to rarity?

They are both worth about ?3, really common etc. And I don't think the cat nos differ either.

Altered Beast ? boxed with instructions

                  Granada ? boxed

                  Cyber Police Eswat ? boxed

                  Dragonball Z ? boxed

Bonanza Bros ? boxed with instructions

Forgotten Wolds ? boxed with instructions

                  Dick Tracy ? boxed

Granada is one hell of a **** hot game ! What ever you do, DON'T be put off by the so so ****ty graphics because it's one hell of a solid shooter !! It even has a few nice sprite rotation and zooming tricks in it.

I'd never even heard of Tiger, Thinking Rabbit and Granada before this. I'll have to check them out on an emulator later and see if they're good, then have a look for the cartridges.
Oddly, I have Jungle Strike but haven't got around to getting hold of Desert Strike again after getting rid of it years ago.
Gotta love those big and chunky EA carts. I was playing Road Rash 2 last night. About a million miles better than Road Rash 64.

I didn't know KyuKyoku Tiger was on the MD, is that the same game as Twin Cobra?

Yes it's the same game. The MD version is decent but not a patch on the PS1 version, one of my favourate shooters ever.
