Not strictly true, I have never seen a Japanese version with real Batman in it and I've been looking for years. I have had versions with Rambo and Godzilla (with spines) included.
I'll need to get a first print (Holes punched in the manual) to see if a retail version with real Batman does exist, as shown in the screenshots in Complete Guide to Consoles 2.

Question for those who have a tile viewer and can be bothered. In the versions where only Spiderman is credited and featured, are the other licensed characters still present as graphics inside the ROM?
If no one checks before I do, I'll see if I can check it out later if I have time.

I believe if you have the lang mod done to ure MD and switch it to JAP, then you still get the proper batman etc with the Uk version

Not as far as I know, coz I think I've tried it before. They're not credited at the start, anyway, but if there's doubt I can try it later.

How does it compare to the PC Engine version of twin cobra?

I coudn't say as I don't have a PC Engine. I'd presume the PS1 version is better, as it looks arcade perfect but I may be wrong.

                Has anyone played both?

Here are those JapaneseMegadrive games I picked up from Ebay.
They include Dick Tracy, Eswat, Tiger (which appears to be Twin Cobra), Forgotten Worlds, Dragon Ball Z, Granada X, Altered Beast, Bonanza Bros and some sort of single screen puzzle / adventure game by a company called Thinking Rabbit (no idea what the title of the game is though). Will hopefully get a chance to smoke some isht tonight and play them.

Bah, for 5 pounds who really cares. But yes, some of those games do look a little dodgy.

Yeah..I'd say the Dick Tracy, Eswat and Kyukyoku Tiger are pirates..the Granada X maybe but it does have a different style of cover art.

The other game is called Shijou Saidai no Soukoban aka Shove It The Warehouse Game

                          Shove It aka Soukoban?
                          Evil! :-D
And yeh, from that pic it looks like you've picked up a world of shonk, but for a fiver whatever really.

Tiger, Forgotten Worlds, Granada X and Eswat are indeed pirates. Dodgy covers and no instruction manuels. I'm guessing the fact that they don't actualy say Megadrive anywhere on the packaging or cart is also a dead giveaway. Anyway, it's not like they're Neo Geo pirates though so I'm not particularly fussed.

Going back to Super Shinobi, I thought that only if you saw this screen, then you lost Batman etc etc?
