Final Fantasy IV - any good?

I have no idea if this should be in retro or not, so apologies if anyone's offended.

How does part 4 stack in the grand scheme of things? I'm looking for another portable RPG & the new GBA release has got me interested. Anyone played through it (in any format) & care to comment?

My views are probably pretty biased

Im a huge FF fan, i liked 4 its a good story and has a decent combat system etc, ive noticed the GBA version is out there im tempted to get it as well for a wee try

Good stuff on the SNES, not the greatest in the series but better than the newer one's. I've played the SNES version of IV and it was a very good title, just a shame they mucked about with the US version. The story is very griping and there is a lot of blood sweat & tears along the way.

Can't say I have much hope for the remake, after playing FF1 & 2 on GBA.

First Final Fantasy game I played on the SNES (Some 15 years ago if Gamespot are correct) and I loved it! I still love and will be looking to pick this one up once I have Christmas out the way.

There are a few changes from the original according to what I have read, but they consist of nothing more than a few little graphical tweaks, slightly better translation and a new dungeon or something so all good excuses to replay this great great game!

I think this is really well suited to handheld, and is certainly something you should pick up and have a go of! I really don't think you will regret it!

It came out the other day in the US.

Not sure of a Japan release, UK release it probably mid 2006....

Yeah i just checked play.com, i think they had it down for march or something?

I have never understood this at all,there's no region encoding on gb cart so what is stopping Nintendo getting the game out for xmas? ****ing idiots....

7, 8 and 9 were great! FFX was absolute rubbish!

I'd also like to say, FF4 has one of the best soundtracks in the series particularly the map scenes.

They want to release it when there's not as much competition from their own and other companies' games. Yes it's a Final Fantasy game (which I find boring as hell tbh but hey) but it's still better business sense to release the game outside of the Christmas period when it's more likely to sell. Is Nintendo even publishing it, anyway?

I like what i've played of it, its got a decent story. Theres a great article about it on insert credit as one of the guys there reckons its the greatest FF game.
