is where I'll be asking you plenty about should I get into that field of gamesplaying

Admitedly it took a lot of digging to get that above... one website in a bundle of hundreds that had a history of the 2600 in the UK with prices.

Trusting it because it's to do with PCW...

I paid ?99 for mine which was after Space Invaders came out. Probably around '81. No special bundle, just the Combat cart.

Well we don't know if Strider wanted the infomation simply to put in some big random of vault of infomation, or to compare it with the prices of other consoles.

I thought Id just better point it out incase hes resaonge for the wantage of the infomation was due to the latter.

No, no we don't know what Strider wanted, does anybody really know what Strider wants? Although, the use of the word 'did' in the title of the thread rather than 'does', seals the deal for me.

Either way, your earlier comment came across as being kind of patronizing? I wouldn't want to speak for the man, but I'm sure he's aware or the concept of inflation.

****, I don't know what I want half the time, so I'll be buggered if anyone else does...

My Dad bought me an Atari 2600 for my birthday in 1982.

It was the version after the 2600 with the fake wood front so it was still the large model but was all black.

It cost ?79.99 from Rumbellows and it came with Pac-Man 8)

                Poor you

(on the Pacman part heh... still it's far from being the worst 2600 game)

I've no idea how much or exactly when (I reckon it was 1980 though), but my VCS was the wooden type with 6 buttons, and included Combat.

I'm sure he is to, but inflation is a thing alot of people forget about, me included.

And I didnt mean to sound patronizing, and wasnt patronzing but sorry if it came over that way

Usually the articles state what the price was and when they launched in the US/UK, so I'm guessing that's why Darran wanted the information.

I got one in about 1988ish for in the region of ?70 irish. Two or three other kids in my class got it at the same time, all with Centipede.

And the machine bloody sucked. I'd had a C64 before that (which broke) and it was a real step back from that.

Couple of years later everybody started getting Nintendos (strange, Ireland must have been kind of behind everyone else in the world, never saw a NES before 1989 or so).

Got my Mega Drive at launch. People find it hard to imagine how people were impressed by Altered Beast back in the day. Well, you hadn't been playing 2600 Centipede, Double Dragon and Roc N' Rope for 2 years beforehand.
