Oh. My. God.

Just 20 minutes ago I discovered this game. I downloaded MAME yesterday for the first time (VERY late to the party, but I normally frown upon piracy).

This is my 4th download and I am amazed at its awesomeness. It's better than Final Fight, better than the Streets of Rage trilogy. The dialogue has had me laughing and I punched a raptor in the face. This is to become so quotable its unreal.

Nearly all Capcom scrolling fighters are AAA amazing titles. C&D is absolutely fantastic in every department. It's one of those games you can play again and again and still have a big smile on your face.

My favourite Capcom scrolling fighter is Final Fight, then on equal grounds I like Captain Commando, The Punisher, Dungeons&Dragons etc...

Aliens vs Predator has never impressed me much. It has a more gritty look to it, and the combo system is a plus point, but it's quite dull overall. I much prefer Konami's Aliens game because it's more vibrant and fun!

With Capcom we should celebrate the fact that nearly all their games have been fantastic!

Try Tenchi Wu Kurau II as well - excellent scroller, also Shadow Over Mystara - my fave scroller at the moment. And before anyone starts saying "I wish Capcom would do a new scrolling fighter", I have three words for ya: Final Fight Streetwise. Appreciate all these older corkers on MAME or Saturn or whatever - bootiful!

scrolling beat em ups arent really my thing though i was more into 1v1

Capcom really knew how to do it well, shame so many things nowadays totally shun 2d or we could see some more things like this

Yep Aliens vs Predator is the daddy in this field C+D is great as is the Punisher, but AvP just has that extra layer of depth in the combat that elevates it.

If you like this style of game I can also recommend Growl, it's not as great as the above, but it's still a fun romp and it has dinos too.

The Punisher has got great gameplay, the double dash jump kicks, rolls etc. AvP is great but is pretty frickin hard later on. Captain Commando is also very good but I do get bored of it quickly, probably because I clocked it on the arcade when I was about 12.

Cadillacs & Dinosaurs is pretty decent, the graphics are a bit naff in parts though and it doesn't really have the same classy look as the comic did.

Capcom really should release a scrolling fighter compilation (& most definitely include Alien Vs Predator)

I love this game. It's not a Final Fight beater but I own this and not Captain Commando or The Punisher as I think it's better than both of em. AVP is the daddy though

C&D is my favourite beat 'em up (aye, even over Streets of Rage 2). Worth playing for the music alone. :P
