The RGB signal passes through a Sony CXA circuit, degrading it. Some board revisions are worse than other, but all are affected. You can bypass this circuit and get a clean RGB signal.
Search neogeo.com forums for RGB Bypass Mod and you'll find some details and pics etc.

Better still, go MVS and get a better picture than ANY AES.

      Cheaper games too.

If you tap the RGB before the CXA chip then surely its the exact same signal as an MVS board.

I've considered it plenty of times and read countless aes vs mvs threads. My opinion get both. Mvs for a cab and aes for tv. MVS looks like **** and faffing on with a supergun and a bunch of cables isnt my bag, although theres some sweet consolized ones out there but i'd rather just get a scratched metal one and plunk it into a cab out of sight. I like the "AESthetics" and its one those things from my childhood - an untouchable, almost mythical creation from the 16 bit era

mate the rgb mod i performed was so easy its laughable, b
asically you remove some of the transistors and add 3 short single wires from point a to b.....its really simple.

go the the neo website and check the forums, you'll be able to pick up a circuit diagram no probs.

they say you should add resistors to calm the colours down, but if you have a decent crt like a panny or sony that isnt nessacery.

The RGB mod is well worth doing, it improves the picture loads.
