Or you could argue Upper is inferior technically to the original/Saturn versions. Depends how you look at it.

I suppose by that point Capcom had moved over to Naomi so using the DC version as a base seemed easiest.

So all in all which is better, as this is all getting rather confusing...
Saturn SFZ3 or DC (the later and RGB compatible) SFZ3 Upper?

Or, further to my last massage... How does the new PS2 version compare as well?

In Street Fighter Zero Fighters Generation (PS2) T.Hawk got an animation that I have never seen before in the PSP, DC, PSX versions. I don't know if it's in the Saturn Version. Just walk back with THawk and you will see it. Walk back with THawk on the DC, PSX, PSP versions and you see the animation is missing. Cody Also has a Punch that I never seen in the PSP, DC, PSX Versions. Just walk foward and press High Punch.

Also if you Pick the same Character on the PSX Version of SFZ3 you'll see the character has More animation. This also can be done in Vampira Hunter and SFZ2 (I think) on the Saturn.

I also own the new Zero Collection for the PS2 and i'm currently loving it.
I'm also curious as to how faithful the versions are to their arcade counterparts.
I've been looking on Shoryuken.com to get some answers but it's a bit hard because the conversation is geared towards the Hyper StreetFighter Zero game on the disk.

I *think the versions on the zero collection are arcade perfect. there are many different versions of the game included on the disk, SFZ3 has both the arcade original and the Upper version. Also there is a secret menu that lets you select different revisions of the arcade boards! with a date for each revision. You can also make a customized version! The Menu has a selectable number of Stars that you can turn on and off, each star represents a tweak that was made to the game, by selecting a revision of game, certain star light up to reflect the changes made.

The is no instructions as to what change each star represents, but there are a few resources on the net that has each change noted, for example -

                "Street Fighter Zero 3

                [Top Row]

☆1: Enables the no-pushback feature of the 980629 version, which occurs when the opponent is stunned by moves which cause them to perform a backward roll, e.g Guy's Bushin Gokusa Ken or Cody's Bad Spray. This allows Cody and Guy to
perform rapid fire standing Jabs without the opponent or Cody or Guy being pushed away, for an infinite combo. Can also be seen in the You Tube movie. Lit star = turn the feature on.

☆2: Eliminates the push-away feature of Blanka's Electric Thunder. Most noticeable when the ET is blocked in the air, where the opponent will be trapped in the ET until their guard is broken. Lit star = on; default is off where the opponent will eventually be pushed away.

                ☆3: Boxer's Alpha Counter does stun damage (?) : on/off

                ☆5: Dizzy throw bug

                ☆ 7: Sodom's invincible Tengu Walking: on/off

☆9: At the 33rd hit of a blocked combo the Guard Power Gauge will decrease rapidly. Also known as Inflection.
So this options allows you to turn this off by lighting the star. The default is on.

☆10: Saikyo Mode: Claw's Izuna Drop damage bug, Guy's Bushin Musou Renka damage bug

☆11: Saikyo Mode: 99% damage throw

                ☆13: Zangief's Glitch-driver on; default is off

☆14: Juni's Cross Scissors Pressure damage can be modified. Lit star = 2 times damage; star off = normal arcade damage

☆16: Dhalsim's unblockable Yoga Flame when close against Zangief and Birdie: on/off. The default setting is off.

                [Bottom Row]

                ☆1: R.Mika punch's air throw does zero damage: off/on

☆10: The first hit of E.Honda's standing Roundhouse knocks down airborne opponents: on/off

☆12: Gouki air throw bug when the opponent starts a jump or is about to become airborne against an Akuma who is landing: on/off

☆15: R.Mika's Shooting Peach and Flying Peach cannot be recovery rolled from. If these moves connect, the opponent remains laying on the ground for a significant amount of time, where it is easy to perform an OTG if playing in V-
                ISM: on/off

                Street Fighter Zero 3 Upper

                [Top Row]

☆5: At the 33rd hit of a blocked combo the Guard Power Gauge will decrease rapidly. Also known as Inflection.

☆15: Adjust if whiffed throws build meter. Star on = no meter building from whiffed throws; star off = whiffed throws build meter.

☆16: Crouch cancel: star on = upper - disable crouch cancel; star off = crouch cancel enabled

                [Bottom Row]

☆1: R.Mika's Shooting Peach and Flying Peach cannot be recovery rolled from. If these moves connect, the opponent remains laying on the ground for a significant amount of time, where it is easy to perform an OTG if playing in V-ISM.

☆7: Displays the Upper arrow in the title logo: on/off

Sounds like I need to get the Zero collection for the PS2 especially its under ?20. Does everyone who has played this thinks its arcade perfect with all the games?

Can we add the gba and psp convertions to the list or is the gba port not deemed worthy ?

T-Hawks animation is in the saturn version too, it was the only version to contain this

Cody's punch.. don't know have to check. The 2 same characters all animations trick can indeed be done in those 2 games but in Vampire Hunter you have to access the Appendix menu to enable it (and then set Animations to Full).

All present and correct in the Saturn version, you also miss out on some of the winning pose as well, like the Ryu and Ken pick up winning pose.

Only seen that in the Saturn version.
