    [DC] Berserk

just finished Berserk on Dreamcast. quite short, but neat and fun. I've appreciated it way more than the Sammy one for PS2. they're very similar games, but the Dreamcast one has shorter stages (so you have a save option more often, and this allow you to stop playing when you want, a crucial element in a so-repetitive game), and the qtevents add a bit of variety (and keep you alert even during movies ^^').

The Dreamcast version of Berserk is very nice. I'm not sure if the English language version is censored or cut in any way but I really enjoyed the story in the Japanese version. The voice acting is spot on since it's the same as the animation.

I enjoyed this one too. Another fine Japanese import for my DC.

I also remember the cover art for the EU version, which was probably one of the worst ever created.

I really like SOTB DC. The graphics are really nice and detailed, it has enjoyable gameplay, and the story is interesting.

It's showing it's age a bit now, but once you start playing, it's such a fun game, you soon get hooked.

People moan about certain aspects of it, but beyond it's problems, it's a very good title.

I just googled the game. Go here for a few laughs:

Yeah... very simplistic and lacking any artistic flair. I hate sterile passionless cover art!

It's one of the few anime/manga titles I will admit to being totally enamoured with, and the game captures the mood perfectly.

If I remember rightly, Zodd is an absolute swine in the DC version...

The intro music to amazing, too. Glad to see there's people here who have some love for this annoyingly underrated title.

Interesting the full Japanese title is 'Berserk: Millennium Falcon'!

It's like something from a 1980s spectrum game. An abysmal piece of airbrushing completely devoid of any merit. The Japanese cover is so much better it isn't funny.

Ah cool I thought it was only me who liked this game.

One thing that confused me was the implementation of the different difficulty levels. Try playing the game through on Hard and you'll see what I mean. Everything is tougher, but the game compensates by giving you more lives?

It's on my list of overlooked titles that need a proper review.

Aye class game, i remember playing it in jap for the first time and thinking, FFS the size of that sword! I didnt even realise you could use yah bolt/arrow gun. Until i got further in!

I really hated them mandragoras, so cliched! One thing that did bug was when your were in a confined space yah sword would hit the environment too much and allow you to be easily taken down by enemies. DMC and God of War it aint, but still a class game! Good shout out of a thread!

Is it worth getting the PS2 version if you have the DC one?

I suppose this isn't a bug. if you go around with a so-huge piece of iron you must loose something on swiftness side.

as I've already said, I've enjoyed more the DC game than the PS2 one. anyway, the PS2 game by Sammy is a completely new game. here are some differences/affinities:
the PS2 game has longer stages, with much more enemies on stage (and this leads to lower-than-expected poligon enemies), and this time they respawn, for the joy of combo-freaks, a refined version of the same cumbersome fighting style (althoug the "bug" you mention above is less frequent), with the same special weapon/abilities system (but doubled: L1 activates Gatsu abilities, L2 activates allies ones), and no qte.
for the fans, this time the story follows the manga.

Nah there's even more blood in the Western version and the dubb in that is pretty good. My god I never knew others liked this game (though it was just me) I must also agree that the intro music really gets you going. I think this game is fanstsic and a great way to kill off the odd borning 1hr or so
