just finished Berserk on Dreamcast. quite short, but neat and fun. I've appreciated it way more than the Sammy one for PS2. they're very similar games, but the Dreamcast one has shorter stages (so you have a save option more often, and this allow you to stop playing when you want, a crucial element in a so-repetitive game), and the qtevents add a bit of variety (and keep you alert even during movies ^^').

I really like SOTB DC. The graphics are really nice and detailed, it has enjoyable gameplay, and the story is interesting.
It's showing it's age a bit now, but once you start playing, it's such a fun game, you soon get hooked.
People moan about certain aspects of it, but beyond it's problems, it's a very good title.
I just googled the game. Go here for a few laughs:

Ah cool I thought it was only me who liked this game.
One thing that confused me was the implementation of the different difficulty levels. Try playing the game through on Hard and you'll see what I mean. Everything is tougher, but the game compensates by giving you more lives?
It's on my list of overlooked titles that need a proper review.

Aye class game, i remember playing it in jap for the first time and thinking, FFS the size of that sword! I didnt even realise you could use yah bolt/arrow gun. Until i got further in!
I really hated them mandragoras, so cliched! One thing that did bug was when your were in a confined space yah sword would hit the environment too much and allow you to be easily taken down by enemies. DMC and God of War it aint, but still a class game! Good shout out of a thread!
Is it worth getting the PS2 version if you have the DC one?

the PS2 game has longer stages, with much more enemies on stage (and this leads to lower-than-expected poligon enemies), and this time they respawn, for the joy of combo-freaks, a refined version of the same cumbersome fighting style (althoug the "bug" you mention above is less frequent), with the same special weapon/abilities system (but doubled: L1 activates Gatsu abilities, L2 activates allies ones), and no qte.
for the fans, this time the story follows the manga.
