I don't know, on a forum dedicated to NTSC import gaming, you'd think people would go for US/JP DC games instead of PAL.

I never liked those blue cases, so fragile.

As far as I can make out, you are saying we shouldn't make the decision to import based on if 60Hz is available or not, but instead just import because importing is the correct thing to do at all times.

        Why do we import?
        1) Unoptimised PAL conversions
        2) ****e Euro release schedules
        3) Some games only available in Japan

For the DC, 1 and 2 barely mattered (and 2 is irrelevant now).
3 is pretty relevant, but then again, there's headhunter which was a PAL only game that is worth playing.

So clearly buy PAL DC games in general would be the way to go, especially with cheap 2nd hand deals, or even the brand new copy of Rez I got in Game for ?5. To suggest that we should go for NTSC versions for no other reason than this is an import focused forum is just weird.

Good point about the fragile cases though. Although I've never broken any of mine, I know they do self destruct fairly easily.

Aaaand finally. I watch everyone's posts in case I don't like them.

VT1 isn't one of the worst games on the DC but it is irrelevant with VT2 out there.

If there are 2 players who know what there doing in VT1 it ends becoming a game of endless rallies with little variation in shots or tactics. The major problem is you cannot hit across a good opponent who positions himself at mid court or closer without giving away the advantage. The serves are so weak that you can stand in the middle of the court and hit back full power serves easily, and from there the server will struggle to hit across you.

It takes a while to get to this stage but once your exploiting everything in the game VT1 gets very boring. VT2 was a major improvement.

I found the reverse to be true in relation to Virtua Tennis. VT2 while being a vast improvement on the first, usually ends up in endless rallies with two experienced players. This is because the slice shot is just way too good at smothering the chance of someone producing a winner. Cue endless slice duels where the first person to try a stong flat shot leaves themselves open for a big counter. I loved the game for a while but can no longer play it because of this "bug".

That's not true at all. There's something your not doing right. If you hit your normal shots deep enough they can't be blasted back. If you get in at the net at the right times you can finnish a rally alot faster.

I've played both VT's extensively for years. VT1 is too much about endless repetitive rallies, VT2 is far more varied and gives you the options to end a rally quickly, especially on grass.

A JP DC isn't all that to be honest. I got one and it comes with some traps: RGB lockouts, and the fact you just want some games like Shenmue, Sonic and Skies of Arcadia in English. You also want the capcom fighters and shooters through RGB mode. Now, my S-Video cable is really good, but its not RGB good. But I'll stick with it..

Getting JP software on a PAL DC comes with the issue you have to use a bootdisc (and one that forces 60hz) and I really hate that.

FYI: PAL N64 had no RGB support at all, so its easily the inferior console.

I can't believe you put PSO in the avoid list, are you mad????

Nearly 200 hours played on that game says you are wrong

                  Also, I liked Tee Off.

The rest of the list is fine though.

He just meant the original and to be fair he's got a point, Ver 2 costs the same still works online and has far more extra functions. ^_^

I know, but most of my time was spent on V1, as V2 (if I remember rightly) was the last official Sega release for the DC (I know that a couple of Capcom games were released afterwards).

V2 isn't that different really, it was more for us folk who had totally blasted V1 to death. Putting it on the list is a crime, and I stand by that
