You guys inspired me to revisit Road Rash. I really hated it when I was young but the MD's RR1 is pretty fun now...perhaps not for more than 20mins.

Perhaps this was one of those games that was better if you have more than one person. Sitting on your own in front of an emulator or the TV playing it probably isn't how you used to. I know for sure that whenever I used to play Road Rash it was taking turns with one or two mates and laughing at the crap player moments and cheering on the heavy crashes.
I think this is where scrolling fighters suffer these days too when you go back to them. In one player mode, they're only really half the fun.

Me and my mate played this and Desert Strike to death in the early 90's when they first came out. I remember RR being so different with hills, oil slicks, smacking people off bikes, buying faster bikes etc. There really never has been anything of its class since.

I played 2 and didn't think it had the magic of the first one. A bit like Jungle Strike was to Desert Strike. EA even then was stuck in its one sequel a year mode and it really spoiled their franchises.

I'd love to see a resurrection of both games though. Just so long as they were given the love and attention the two original games were, and then wouldn't be subsequently whored to death by tons of sequels.

I was playing Desert Strike again recently and only really just realised that in the old days of playing it I'd never even beaten the first campaign It's really long! Aren't there about 30 levels or something? That's value for money.
