Master System - worth collecting for?

First-run units had just the snail game and had the Hang On card as a pack in.
After that, there were 3 different bundles available - the basic set (with Hang On built-in), the "SMS Plus" which came packed with a Light Phaser and had Hang On & Safari Hunt bui8lt-in, and the "Super System" which came with both the Phaser and the 3D Glasses, and had Missile Defense 3D built-in.
Following that, Alex Kidd in Miracle World was built-in to the SMS1, then they launched the SMS2 which initially had Alex Kidd before giving way to Sonic around the end of '92.

My ****ty Mark 2 has Sonic built in which I didn't realise until I got it. I thought Mark 2s only came with Alex Kidd, but there you go.
Wonderboy 3 is fantastic and I've not devoted nearly enough time to it, but I'll get hold of a SMS/GG emu for DS and play it that way instead seeing as I own it but don't play it at home. Better in bursts on the train
If you want to see an abortion of a conversion, check out Rainbow Islands.
I had a pirated version of SF2 for the NES (I may have posted pics actually) that was hilarious

I have a boxed SMS 1 for sale if anyones interested, the box is good, it has okay polys, console is in good condition still with the original plastic covering over the front, it has two controllers and the original power supply and I have a few games to choose from.
I can also mod it to 50/60hz, provide it with a brand new RGB scart cable, and maybe even a couple of other mods.
The SMS is a great console, and collecting for it has been a blast. Ive got a massive collection, but probably not as big as anagramas.. its taken a long time to amass, but as he's said, the games can be picked up for absolute pennys really.

Just spent a ridiculous amount of time playing it ie: pushing 'Up' everywhere on each part of the screen (using the birdman) to look for hidden shops etc. Just a fantastic amount of replay value, although it got bloody confusing towards the end. Not bad for a game that someone gave me..

On topic: try Golvellius which is an excellent Zelda game by Compile (better than that Aztec crap) and Rastan which is a wonderful conversion.
Off topic: talking of Street Fighters on 8-bit machines, has anyone ever played Street Fighter Alpha for the GBC? Incredible - proof that it was always possible. Oh yeah, the PC Engine was damned near arcade perfect, but that's cheating as it was a super-duper 8-bit...

However, Bock from SMS Power has recently had a bunch of convertors made that use this expansion port to play Western SMS games on a Japanese SMS console [but not on a Mark III]. Tototek have also made a similar convertor that plugs into the cart slot. As of yet, however, there's no convertor that can play JP games on a Western system (though it's probably technically possible).

Oh yeah, no doubt incredible, especially as the speech is actually better than the Megadrive version. But still, for a great Street Fighter on an 8-bit, SFA gets my vote as I'd never have expected the GBC to pull off a playable version.
