CCIV: Game of the Year 2012 - Round I

We move on to the year of the Apocalypse, as the world was ending around us we continued to blitz new game releases and here they compete amidst the flames once more





Which of the listed games are among the best of 2012 and why?

I haven't voted for any on this list though a couple came close to getting the nod:

Borderlands 2 - It is good but I think the Borderlands franchise has been stuck since the first in feeling like you're just playing expansions of the same game. That feeling wasn't as worn by the second but it didn't hit as fresh none the less

Assassin's Creed III - Honestly, the downward look this game gets never made sense. It was an improvement on AC II: Revelations and was much better than many of the entries that have followed since

Asura's Wrath - It's unique and I enjoyed it, hoping to revisit it at some point again. But it was also limited in a gameplay sense so that held it back a bit

[Finsbury Girl]

Yep AC3 is great. I don't understand any criticism about Connor - he's a great protagonist and has plenty of "character". Traversal and parkour through the forest is ace, there is the beginning of the naval battles and I really liked building the community of misfits. Liked the setting as well. Great game.
