Inspired by Neon Ignition's Sega thread, I wanted to post about something I've found myself listening to a great deal recently.
That thread (at least from my PoV) is about the quintessential esoteric loosely defined music that typifies Sega in the second half of the 90s, as shown by things like Burning Rangers or Sega Rally.
But at the same time, particularly popular on Sony's side of the fence (but certainly not limited to it) was a different musical style that was showing up in all sorts of places, probably influenced by Sony initially wielding their music label's resources.
I've seen this referred to by many names, but atmospheric jungle/atmospheric drum & bass seems to come up a lot, and frankly I ****ing love it.
