I'd pay ?20.. but if the publisher got greedy, I'd feed them even more cash!

SuperPlay is the best magazine ever made.

Yeh! Have my cash! Take it!
Would be great if they did it and lumped all of each relevant section together, so that all those import RPG guide sections ran contiguously, stuff like that. The total SNES dream magazine. I'd probably never need another magazine again, just sit in a corner in a foamy-mouthed 16-bit-induced haze.
I can still remember their run up to the N64, the final issue which was so sad because it came as a bit of a shock to the readers, but that review of Mario 64 and all the rest of the N64 coverage basically said "OK, we're sorry that we're going, but BUY A N64 BECAUSE IT'S THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD!!!". Which it was.
I cried when Super Play died, because I got the last issue on my birthday (Sep 7th)

        (
I'm in a foamy-mouthed 16-bit haze everyday at the moment. I've been playing tons of SNES & Mega Drive games, and completing them too.

Each game era has its own atmosphere, and for many reasons the 16bit era evokes a strong feeling of ' fun '

Even some of my friends have been seduced once again by Super Mario Kart, F-Zero, Street Of Rage 2, Contra Spirits etc... We haven't had so much gaming pleasure for ages.

        16-Bit forever!

Not quite what you?re looking for and expensive for scans slapped on a DVD, but quite cool none the less:

          Other magazines are also listed.

I loved super play. it was responsibile for opening my eyes to imort games, manga, anime and generally japanese culture. The writing was always well informed, and the artwork was amazing. There has not been a games mag to touch it since. Ever.

                  Typical that from Future..

Sorry to say but I don't get the love of Super Play? Seemed just like a lot of other mags around at that time.. However I must admit to not reading that many.

I have to say though that one of the things that put me right off was the cover artwork. Absolutely appalling sub (sub sub) manga rip offs. I just don't get how you lot can get so worked up about it!? Especially as you must have witnessed 'proper' manga by then?

Anyway, personally I'd like to have either ACE, Zero or Mean Machines archives.

Seriously though Superplay was the mag of the 90s for me. Written by gamers for gamers in a professional and mature style and none of this teenage humour or putdown that is prevalent in journalism today.

Anyone wanting the Superplay DVD set should seek out Mort on the net and privately email him...

(and it comes fully recommended from me, but that's cos I helped out a fair bit on it!)
Lie with passion and be forever damned...

Super Play was a great mag - always colourful, positive, enthusiastic and with great screenshots and brilliant coverage of Jap games. It wasn't always the funniest gaming mag in the world, but definitely one of the most passionate.

I would, however, take a Zero archive over a Super Play one - one of the best and funniest British computer/gaming mags ever.
