Sometimes I wish I lived in Japan...

?13.50 for the lovely boxed SFC above.

Just been following a few things on there lately. The prices are plain silly. This is just the SFC hardware below - 23 pages - much of it brand new. As I said in the auction prices topic I think Yahoo Jp sets the true market value, us poor westerners have to pay inflated ebay prices...

I have thought of using the third party go-between companies but add in fees, internal and external shipping etc and it all gets a bit uncertain.

It is a shame tha things can get so pricey on ebay. But I guess it makes it all the better when you get a game you've been after for ages if you have to go through more to get it.

Swings and roundabouts though. (Although I do agree there are far too many greedy ebayers out there)

Of course much sfc stuff is cheaps as chips. Same with many consoles. Its common as hell so its costs very little. A nice boxed sfc is as common as say Sonic (Pal MD).

But for some of the rarer stuff Yahoo can be just as pricey as Ebay, if not more so. Some MD games (General Chaos for example) fetch peanuts outside of japan, but costs lots (comparatively) in japan.

Then there's other stuff that just doesn't sell outside of japan. Noone is going to put up a rare pce title for a 99p starting price on Ebay when it has cost them ?100+ as the risk of it selling low is too great. But ?100+ is the normal japan price so what do you do? List an item that won't sell? take a big hit? or put it up with a big price pretty much knowing it won't sell? Japan really isn't all cheap...and with the recent drop in many prices over here a lot of prices are comparable.

Plus condition really does come into play for the pricier jp items. Eg I remember a while back a sealed DNM pce did not sell for 23,000 yen despite several listings. Why? From what I could see there was a tiny little manual rucking so collectors didn't want it. Flawless ones can hit 40k no problem on the very rare times they are listed! (Got mine for ?200 on ebay...ie same price)

(Of course you can find serious bargains if you look/are lucky.

Full PCE Printer Set - cost me about ?300 from germany (EEK)
Full PCE Printer Set (better condition, extra illust) - cost me 2,600 yen + ?40 for shipping! (Lucky bargain))

          Yep, good points.

I'm watching this too. If it goes for 5000 yen I'll be gutted.

Got to add another - this one really is astounding. Seventeen SFC's, four N64s, a Saturn and three GB's thrown in for a Buy-it-Now of ?22?!
