Neo Geo Pocket Color

Looking to buy and start collecting for the Neo Geo Pocket Color. Which are the best games to start with?
Trying to keep away from the KoF and Metal Slug series as I own them numerous times across various consoles.

Basically any good fighters, racers, shmups, RPGs or weird J-stuff will do

Great console indeed. Not so many titles but quite a bit of quality.

I'd personally recommend

I know you said not to but they are different enough from all other versions to really warrant owning.

and that's without the jp only games, but I'm not so clued up on those, except Ghost Photo Studio which I really enjoy for some reason.

err the two most obvious ones are Sonic and SNK vs Capcom: Match of the Millenium.

the latter is still an extraordinarily good game.

There's not a lot of JPN only releases that are worth hunting down tbh.

Delta Warp is probably the one that I enjoyed the most. It's a fairly standard puzzle title, but it had me hooked for a while.

From the English language releases Faselei is an absolute must. Utterly fabulous game. Very different from the rest of the Neo titles (which are mostly fighters and puzzlers; though nothing wrong with that!).

Turf Masters was probably my most played NGPC game, one of the best handheld golf games, even to this very day.

sidetrack: is its big brother on the Neo Geo AES any good? in fact are any of the arcade Neo Geo golf games any good?

Biomotor Unitron is so good....Dark Arms is rad if looking for a bit more action orientated.

SF Alpha 3 MAX on PSP is better, lets be honest

Gal Fighters was one of the games I most want so good to hear it's good

It's great, just like the Pocket version. Gameplay is pretty-much exactly the same.

Another vote for Gals Fighters. I've just had to sell my NGPC to clear some space, but this was the one game I was really sorry to sell. Easily my favourite handheld fighting game
